Awesome o-man, will this be able to fit over a E40k chassis say like a Griffon or a Basilisk with the rear platform cut off?

Will you be doing an earth shaker barrel too?

My intention is that they will plug into the hole of a Forge World Medusa. The next step is to make a 'peg' between the enclosure and the hatch so it will fit nicely.

I looked at a few E40K chassis and didn't draw any conclusions. I may decide to print just the enclosure, without peg and hatch, to offer flexibility in that regard.

Yes, I will print 3 barrels: a short fat segmented one (see above), a long artillery one, and a 3 in-line flak one.

Debiggerized to 6mm scale, hull piece added. The light yellow thing is a mock-up of the dimensions of a FW Chimera tread.

Next steps:
Make an adapter so the fat barrell thing will fit in the slot.
Model the long barrel artillery piece.
Model the in-line flak barrels. Barrells (sp?)

If anybody wants this 3D file, just ask. Most information gains value as it is shared.

Artillery version. While looking at the screen I thought "Man, that's a big-ass gun. Can that be right?". Then I would compare my WH40K basilisk cannon to the Armageddon enclosure from Forge World. Yep, it's just a big-ass gun.

I submitted a request for quotation from AcuCast. Their standard system said "$70", but I may request the high-precision Viper machine. I don't know if that will be more expensive or not.

The print job has been purchased; I am one step closer to fulfilling my vow to create a true scale Armageddon pattern Medusa.

Last night, drifting off to sleep, I realized that the flak cannon arrangement is stupid. The enclosure can't pivot to stay on target. Perhaps we can rationalize that some desperate mechanics salvaged functional cannons from damaged Hydras in order to make anti-personnel platforms?

Perhaps it's much (MUCH) longer-ranged than a Hydra?

Pivoting doesn't matter so much then, if your limited traverse (10 degrees or so) can cover an area a mile wide... or you could mount it on the Medusa chassis, which does have a traverse mount...

I just talked to the Acu-Cast guys. They're going to run the print in the Viper machine, and anticipate a ship date of tomorrow.

So, best case is receipt on Friday. Most probable is receipt on Monday. Added complication: I take care of Bella Friday through Sunday, but she may let me take pictures and post them. She's turned into quite the little computer hog, like daddy.

(Cross posting to both Necron scenery and Armageddon enclosure)

The prints arrived. The Armageddon enclosure does not look as good as hoped.

There is noticable layering, and none of the rivets were printed. That means Acu-Cast's best resolution is for approximately .5mm features.

The dimensions were accurately printed, so the enclosure itself is an excellent starting point to detail.

The 'underhang' was a little too deep to fit onto a FW chassis, but filing will fix that.

The Medusa cannon fit very well.

The artillery cannon connector is a little too fat. Some filing will take care of that.

The flak cannon assembly is a little too skinny. That will be fixed with a simple filler plate of styrene.

I also inked one of the enclosures for eventual pictures.

The order of molding and casting is as follows:
1) Armageddon enclosure
2) Medusa cannon
3) Zombie Euro Robot Symbol emitter tips with greater detail
4) Zombie Robot control point
5) Zombie Robot summoning core
6) Artillery cannon
7) In-line flak cannons
8) The rest of the Zombie Robot scenery

I don't expect substantive progress until Monday. Yen and I are frolicking tonight (dinner with friends), and I keep Bella from Friday to Sunday.

My friendly AcuCast guy called, and said that he's going to try a few different orientations, and see if better results were possible.

We then discussed how their Viper machines have a high definition mode, but because the beam size is so small, the build time increases by a factor of 5. That in turn leads to a factor of 5 increase in cost. Waaaa.
