Looks like its about 10% cheaper than FUD with possibly better resolution.

If I get Epic scale pieces, and Exodus Wars http://www.shapeways.com/shops/exoduswars has some nice pieces with more to come on Shapeways. I'd go with :

Frosted Extreme Detail Matte translucent plastic that showcases incredibly fine and intricate details.

Which is more expensive but that is the level of detail I look for.

yeah I don't think you're understanding the material properties on the datasheets, l4

the differences are very interesting especially with the distances between interlocking parts (pretty sure that's related to the curing process). the bounding box is crazy, totally for an upright figure. very excited about the material strength as FUD/FXD is super brittle.

Well ... I guess I don't ... but will it give the detail of FED or FUD ? :-\

I'm old Shapeways is like magic to us old folk. We used to think Play-do & Silly Putty was a big deal. We used to use data punch cards for computer programs ... ^-^

It appears to, we will be doing some test prints, but this may become our new go to material :).

As long as it delivers on all of its promises.

looks like the "no sprues" rule could be problematic, but I am sure a workaround will be discovered for this soon enough.

But what about the more smooth surfaces, the print lines the FUD and FXD materials have are rather problematic...

yeah they require cleanup. I don't really call that problematic, just what you have to do.

I find the FXD material to be annoying to clean in such a way that it's up to standard. It takes quite an amount of time, leaving me to wonder if it's worth doing that or just stick to printing it at a high end service.

more so than FUD? I found it easier myself

Post subject:  Re: New Material at Shapeways

It's weird, but I did indeed find it a bit on the tricky side, maybe also because the material is so hard.
