The nice thing is, because of the commonality between the [28mm gunship model] and [28mm dropship model and its gunship variant], I was able to re-use a lot of the components I had already made, so I'm nearly finished with building the Stormturkey/Fireturkey already! I'll probably be done with it in by this weekend.

Edit: Names changed to evade the Inqui$itors.

Impressively fast!

Do you still have the detailing stage to go though or are those the final versions?

From a distance they look good but the detail is badly lacking on closer inspection. Others have printed models on Shapeways with detail down to 0.1mm being used and coming out on the prints

I've not had great success with details smaller than 0.2mm, even in FUD, so I've designed everything to have at least at that level of detail. I'd love to add more, but I think I'm going to leave them as-is. Thanks for the feedback, though!

That is really cool.

Maybe a bit short though? Proportions look a bit stubby somehow. Great either way.

It certainly might be! I've never seen one in the flesh and based its proportions on what pics I could find online. I can take another pass at it and see if I can get a better sense for the proportions.

If someone has one of the 28mm kits and could send me the dimensions, I'd be eternally grateful!

could you do a picture dead on the side and from the rear? can do some overlay/comparisons/scales against the pictures of 'similar things' then ;)

Cool, are you also going to put that new deathbot thing on Shapeways, not sure I actually want one but would be nice to see it up there and have the option!

Doing a bit of measuring on photos. If say a storm chicken was full hero-chicken size thing it'd be 224.5mm wide (wingtip thruster cover to wingtip thruster cover) (this should be pretty accurate). If it is 224.5mm wide then it's close relatives are approximately 216mm long (end of engine to tip of multi melta).

From that i guestimate comparing your top shot to pictures online, thestorm chicken is 9/10th the length of its older peers. I don't care about true scale, but that's probably why it looks slightly stubby.

I'll PM you some measured out pictures.

*edit, had completely wrong number in for one of them!

Cool, thanks, Apocolocyntosis! I'm going to do some rework on the turkeys over the weekend.
