Just out of curiosity Ben, have you ran the numbers on how much would it cost to have a tank sprue?

No, but a sprue of, let's say one design of MBT (2 parts, hull and turret).... I doubt you'd get any change from £2.5k, £3k might be more realistic. That'd be what, £4k-£4.5k in pre-orders. All guesswork figures off the top of my head, of course. Could throw a few APC's on there for free since the programming would already be paid for.

Yes Sir!

I may put out a few other stand alone metals if I think they can pay for themselves (and more, being able to put profit back into improving the Sprue) mind you. Nothing that'll detract from the main goal. ;-)

Carry on, Sergeant Major ;)
Joking aside, it must be a bugger trying to juggle the different demands and second-guessing cost/profits! Best of luck, and thanks again :)

If we took £4k in churchillian pre-orders it could be this year's project. :-)

+1 to another kickstarter for tank/apc sprue.

I also like the suggestion for a catch-all "vehicle addon" pledge, the one where you email your wishlist after the campaign closes.

How feasible is it, and how many different addon bits could there be? Cool stretch goals could be to add more and more different addons, but perhaps that would be better for a tank sprue fundraiser. So much you could do, long-barreled mbt cannon, short-barreled mbt cannon, laser mbt cannon, apc flamer, artillery gun, rocket launchers, big mortars, small mortars, dozer blades, random bits to add character, tank commanders wearing black trenchcoats and big hats sitting in the turret...

Really great the see the amount of ideas and support for this project here. I to want to see the best possible plastic sprue we can get and ideas for what could be on it are fine but what is really needed for that to happen is for you guys to spread the word on the possibilities of the final item and make your pledges really count.
I have been amazed at the support so far especially as at the begining things seemed to be going slowly and now all of a sudden we are almost at the second stretch goal with a month to go, awesome.

I've posted about this project on the Specialist Military Publishing site and the main comment has been about the lack of poses which is not unexpected as it's the same here. So i think more funding for the plastics is the way to go. Although if the tanks were released early i'd buy a ton of them to boost the fund.

Would it be possible to extend the deadline for this crowd funding to allow more time to finance the plastics or is that not viable?

Regards

The funding period is fixed and cannot be extended.

I too want to see more poses & sculpts as a priority.

Hey Athmospheric - who says the french have no word for entrepreneur ? ;) (ref G Bush jr) :D

Stick to the core plan, and make the best goddamn sprue you can with the remaining time. ;)

Remember that you've achieved your initial goal, and that's awesome – a heartfelt congratulations and thanks for the initiative, time and funding you've put into it already. :)[/quote]

I have to agree whole heatedly - In two months (!!) (hopefully) you will have managed : Funding achieved. Market tested. Production methods will be tested and proven. Example models will be out there gaining word of mouth. Income stream created. Reputation sealed. That is the time for a big crowd funded expansion !

But the success of round 2 will be largely down to how damn cool you can make spru 1.

IMHO and without full info ; the potential life span of the product (and sales of potential later add-ons) if done right means the cost of variation (especially on the aliens) is relatively minor in comparison to sales if this initial interest is anything to go by.

Incidentally - one argument for weapon variation is the additional potential for increasing the number of builds. Ie. Units consisting of ranged weapons, cc weapons or both for variety and bulk. Just a thought.

Well, that's the stretch goal #2 moulding paid for!

I'll have the stretch goal #3 items available shortly. In the mean time, additional purchases will be able to cycle funding back into getting some more pose variety on the plastic sprue...

If the consensus is that we should go for an extra alien sculpt at this time then I'll back that consensus as long as we can keep the momentum up!

Remember it's £600 per sculpt in our costs, once you account for IGG and PayPal's 9-10%, production and postage costs, that's more like £1000-£1200 in pledges. I'm happy to try for it if the community is. We could always pause for a metal mini stretch in a few days if momentum drops off to speed things back up again...
