Kilrathi are giant space tigers who are the major villains in the Wing Commander universe.

BSG is Battlestar Galactica, where the Cylons (a bunch of robots who apparently really liked sex with humans) are the major villains.

Both apparently use crescent shaped aircraft, because curves are sensual.

A bit of pointless trivia, the kzinti appeared in the animated Star Trek series. Apparently the guy who wrote the kzinti books was also a writer for that show. There are a few references to them in later Star Trek shows.

The kilrathi theme is one of the coolest soundtracks in a video game ever... Just sayin... Khurasan has cool 15mm kilrathi...

I remember my Kilrathi fighters... but unfortunately it's not even close to the first thing I think of when I see that design.

You know what is logical, but makes for poor miniature aesthetics? Bottom mounted weapons. Essential for fliers / hoverers, but all of the "business" is out of sight.

See also: Tau drones.

Brain wracking exception: huge cannon on Thunderhawk. Nice and visible, but requires pointing aircraft at the very hard ground.

I figured it shot slightly to the side of the aircraft - i.e. the aircraft tilted, rather than pointing itself at the ground.
