So I designed a plastic sprue for a bit of a laugh, complete with IP-free tanks and infantry.

In theory, I'd love to put such a sprue on sale in the open market, as it'd be compatible for proxying with games like Future War Commander & Epic etc. but I'd need to sell at least 100 boxes using a particular new technique to hove in sight of breaking even, so it's just a bit of theory-fun I guess.

But, it was fun to design...

====

Human Space Warriors Army Box - £30

Contents, four plastic sprues containing :

- 12 Main Battle Tanks
- 8 Armoured Personnel Carriers
- 8 Self-Propelled Artillery Tanks (Up to 4 of which can be constructed as Anti-Aircraft Tanks instead)

You could build the Infantry in various combinations, for example:

- 6 Infantry Bases (5 Riflemen)
- 6 Infantry Bases (4 Riflemen & 1 Missile Trooper)
- 4 Officer Bases (1 Banner Carrier, 1 Officer with hat, 1 Officer pointing Pistol, 1 Officer wearing longcoat & 1 Missile Trooper)

Plus a few extra models left over (2 Riflemen & 2x Missile Trooper, I think).

A closer look at some of my awesome tanks.

The Main Battle Tank is based on a WWI British Mk1 tank, plus a gun turret on top.
The APC is based on the outline of a Bradley IFV.
The Artillery Tank is based on the same concept as the AS90 SPG.

Hooray for the waste of time! ;D

The strength of the pound relative to the US dollar would be a challenge if you were to dabble in exporting here, but they do look great. Some of the other options available to us are a little dated, and more importantly they are sold in inflexible quantities that don’t always fit our needs. But they are available, for now.

$$$, GBP, EURO, etc. is always going to be a concern ... And the economy on both sides of the Big Pond ... well ... sucks !!! :{[]

I'd take a box or four of your hands, if you can get enough interested people you may be able to make the dream a reality.

i would take a box or 4 like moredakka above.

Would it be worth considering preorders? I personally would be happy to pay before production given our previous history of excellent trades.

I'm happy to preorder aswell.

Any chance of a closeup of the infantry too.

looks like a great idea, pretty price competitive from my limited knowledge of their equivalents. How come the high break even? Minimum order requirements from the plastic people/ consequence of the large sprue/ high fixed cost per sprue? I'm guessing you've already looked at 2 separate sprues (infantry vs. armour) vs. one larger sprue.

They look really good. Is it a much more difficult task working out tooling requirements, and undercuts?

I'd personally ditch the bases altogether and put more figures on a sprue. People could supply their own bases/pennies/washers.

I'd be interested in at least a couple sets, too.

I can hear my friends saying "Nat, you don't need more armor!" already. Screw 'em.

Have you tried posting up on TMP to see if you can drum up some [more] interest?

If you're counting how many of us will commit to it, count me in for one package - as long as infantry bases are included. I guess my biggest concern is that this project would seem a bit more likely to draw attention from competitors, if you know what I mean.

There are a couple bits that could be taken the wrong way, but overall the sculpts are very generic while still characterful. They'd need minimal changes before production to make them unique enough to allay concerns, from my point of view.

Id like to image you could shift 100 reasonably easily, especially if you got EW/DRM etc to stock them.

Any chance of swapping the bases for for more infantry/actual stuff? would give it more bang for the £.

I would also be interested, would appreciate pics of the other sprues though.

Where? The PRC? :D

E&C, if you propose these designs are your IP why not just have them cast in metal and sell them at lets say the same rate Khurasan or Reaper sells their original designs? Then you could pass the savings on to all the FWC players here.
