Because it is roughly 6,5m tall(an elephant is 3 - 4m tall). His eyes alone are about 50cm in diameter. Thats bigger than a blue wahles eye!

Eyes as big as this are just huge targets. Even in darkness you could easily spot big reflektive eyes. I wouldn't mind big eyes if his purpose would be scouting or longrange combat. But it looks like a linebraker to me. Something that charges the enemy frontlines or tanks. Its weapons are all oriented to the front. Its head is now a huge weakpoint.
He just don't need that much eyesight. He is not a telescope.

But just from a creature design point of view. The aspect ratio from head to body is a primary method of making Things look big.
Take a Human for example. To indicate a bigger Human without a size comparision you make him slender. Strech the body, but keep the head the same.

so I decide to have a kid (Cayden, Born Dec 23rd, Cayden is Gaelic for Battle or Fight {or something like that} and boy he is living up to his name, but I digress) and more stuff happens
