Full support from here too. There's a limit for every man to handle disappointments and if you are wise you just move on to get things sorted. MD, funder would surely work as TMG funders showed.

Thank you for your clarity on how things stand.

If there is any way in which you think I can help then PM me. I plan to at least to put out a display force of Affray v Skinners at my painting demo at Hammerhead in the New Year (probably my next show).

Already got an order in with you too ;-)

Hey mate all such support will be greatfully received I shall remember your offer.

Guys thanks for all your feedback positive and negative it lets me know what I need to improve things.

Regards

After many years running TMG and the funder campaigns and with all the continuous problems with the plastics and cost overruns on the latest funder Ben wishes to move on and pursue other options/career paths, basically he feels he's had enough and wanted to sell up.

I had a sneaking feeling that was the case, and I don't blame him in the slightest. Crowdfunders seems to be as much a curse to the hobby as a gift.

Thanks MD. I hope everything works out for all parties.

Indeed I too hope TMG and myself can come to a satisfactory arrangement for all concerned.

On the topic of miniatures: in the vein of Rex's and Cranium's thoughts, the '6mm' board here seems crammed full of Epic armies made up of Epic minis, Epic proxies, and secret-handshake stuff... But how many non-Epic minis and armies are shown off?

Akshulee, going off-topic again, but I just stumbled into the 'Other Wargames Miniatures' board, and it looks like that's where all the other 6mm is going! I have no idea what's going on in this place...

I certainly hope you can! Losing TMG (in addition to SCP, DRM and Plasmablast) at this stage would be a final and devastating blow to 6mm.

Before rumours fly.

Based on MM's post i just checked the above websites (as i have been recommending them to other friends recently.)

DRM - is back up with a post announcing a "new webstore." Looks much like the old one if im honest but i guess its all backroom, stock management stuff.

Plasma Blast : Down due to a transition to new ownership. Sounds much like the situation with TMG where a retailer will do orders and the original guy will do designs. That was from July though so dragging on a bit but hopefully back soon.

EW / SCP : Hopefully back soon under new ownership according to Netepic's recent post. I do hope so as a local guy really wants some space dwarfs. http://www.tacticalwargames.net/taccmd/viewtopic.php?f=76&t=29959&start=45

Wow, it looks like 2015 has seen a lot of changes for 6mm. Whatever happens I wish Ben the best. 6mm wouldn't be the same without him!

Regarding Vanguard, is there an estimated date as to when DiD might be fully stocked? Definitely interested in a number of items.

To answer your question sir I can give no solid date as it's all in the hands of the casting company and how busy they are.

Once I have a date I can post you will see it here but keep an eye on my site too for the latest news.

Cheers

With all this doom and gloom just thought I'd say thank you for my Crushers. I made the pledge for them after the 3 for £34 offer was removed and had checked I would still receive them. They were forgotten when I received my awesome Desert Infantry (5 companies worth for Net Epic) but they were dispatched later swiftly and efficiently so thank you everybody. They are awesome models as well.

I do wonder whether a project, along the lines of Polyversal, but using the EA rules engine, would help 6mm in general. If there was a rules set, with the strengths of 'its based on Epic', which not only allowed 6mm manufacturers to plug their lines in but actively worked with them to create mini lines which corresponded with army lists it would give a ready-made market.

This would be an open source sand box, allowing anyone to create a mini range for it, and be assigned an Army Champion here to do rules development for them. A company could produce one race, or several, wouldn't need to worry about marketting a game setting, could plug into the current background which we would evolve here and would give a real community development feel for it.

If I suggested this..... What would the response of the community be?

While I am in no way an authority on Epic, I would wonder why said Polyverse initiative failed. It seems the peer community is by nature fickle. I would hazard that most would like to be captains of their own microverses, and rules sets, rather than part of someone else's hobbyincarnation. This would account for the remarkable longevity of the Priestly branded hodgepodge of stolen ideas that is 40K - the genesis of it lies outside the supporting community.

I think the current set up of creative talents operating in the post Chapter House world works surprisingly well and I would be surprised if any committee based Polyverse could improve this in any way

I think the strength of the 40k setting is it generic nature. You can plug almost any sci-fi (and fantasy and historical) trope into it and find a way to make it fit. Yes if you are into the deep fluff then it's actually quite intricate after 30 odd years of development. But at its heart it is still rogue trader - use all your scifi stuff and have fun!

As a game i have found it is successful because almost any scifi wargamer in their 30s has approximately 1m epic space marines in their attic :-) And once a few people start playing it attracts new blood.
