Quite honestly I looked at this guys site and most of his minatures are above average sculpts with a multiple of themes (the majority do not have naked woman).

If straight up adverts aren't welcome it should be posted policy. I find alot of the random out of the blue 'ads' from basically 'non forum' contributors rather strange.

The 'knee jerk' 'fuss' about the content, censorship, and the proprietary entitlement issues on the part of some members seems just as strange in its own way.

I don't mind the post or the mini - I bet the sculptor watches Spartacus: Blood and Sand. Players of dark eldar or chaos dwarves may find a use for it. It looks better sculpted than asdrubal vect's slave girls. I'm not sure the chosen pose is all that useful - maybe as a part of a chaos dwarf baggage train objective. A running in panic or cowering pose would be more useful in an actiony diorama.

I also don't mind people using the forum to advertise their minis - its not like this guy is a spammer. That said, he probably would do better by posting at dakka dakka for this kind of model. This forum doesn't have a big 28mm audience.

I do wonder what particular features about the model mark it as Ukrainian. I actually have more heartburn over assigning the model a real nationality. I probably would have gone with something more along the lines of hyborean slave girl. The name just makes me wonder what you have against Ukrainians.

Well yes ... however, I find such models to be a bit offensive ... Believe me I'm no prude or bible-thumper ... But bondage, torture, slavery, etc. are not my thing. And I believe, I am a well read student of history and as you all know I served over a decade as an Infantry Officer. Gritty, where the "rubber meets the road" sort of work. And have seen the some of the worse and best that humanity can demostrate. This sort of model reminds me of such low-brow films as Hostel I & II, SAW, etc., etc. ... Definitely not my thing and I made it a point not to watch such "junk" ... So I like to play with toy soldiers, aliens and monsters ... But NOT toy naked females tied up, etc. ... Really at the risk of sounding like a zealot ... I think a moderator should remove the picture ... at least. And to be magnanimous, and not infringe on anyone's right to free speech, just have a link to Vinni's creations ... That's just me ... I may be wrong ...

Last time I checked, I wasn't a prude either. I would question however the ability to post adult content.

Most websites I've visited with adult content explicitly request you state that you are over 18 (or the legal age for your country).

Can we be sure that all our members are over age or do we risk exposing minors to adult material?

I think L4 summed up my feelings pretty well.

fair enough. I must remember to label any sites linking to Michelangelo's David as "adult content". Reminds me of the people that used to knock the willies off Greek statues so as to prevent the corruption of the innocent.

we have a big statue of hercules at my workplace and about 30 years ago, following complaints, they removed his junk and put a fig leaf there instead, fast forward twenty years and someone in the core store found a velvet lined box with a large stone penis in it.... it was duly re-attached, and we STILL get complaints from meddlesome residents who live opposite the site, over 200 yards away who could possibly only see the 'detail' of it with a good pair of binoculars....

I was fine with it, however I agree that a link and perhaps a simple warning, not adult, but 'contains nudity' would be perfectly finem instead of a picture.... )

Yeah- I think we need to strike a balance between excessive prudish-ness and recognising that we will have some members that are minors. I think we struck it about right.

I just find the model to be part of a lamentable tendency towards fetishism when it comes to human female models. This model is not nude art, it is a woman in a bondage harness, with exaggerated sexual features (what lovely hair she has!).

I just find it a bit juvenile, and tbh kinda creepy.

I see your point E&C and I think that illustrates the grey area between art and porn (or voyeurism/ sadism/ insert undesirable human trait), plus the effect of context on how we perceive things. If the model was in a chain of both male and female models, would it be so objectionable?

Either way, I agree that swearing, nudity and so on should be kept to a minimum and doing so is what makes this place a pleasant one to hang out in (for both minors and adults). I guess I'm just a little sensitive about it as I still haven't adjusted to NE US attitudes on nudity and sexuality!
