I think the bug concept is very good. I'll still be obvious if used for another game but is distinct. Especially once you blend the weapon in better to the rest of the creature. Looking forward to it.

I dislike the whole bug design. To close to GW IP, but too far as well. Perhaps just not my cup of tea.
The totally Not-Tallarn guys are too close to the Winterguys, army choice wise. Perhaps no heavy towed guns? Just small buggies with gun plattforms?

Made a few adjustments and pose concessions for casting purposes.

Just needs the final detail pass.

I'm liking it. Maybe slightly more ribbing and less bulk to the body? And gnarlier plates? Hope there will be a few different poses? A just-fired and a walking pose would be good...

Could you adjust the tail so it isnt pointing as horizontally but with a bit of elevation soit is more of a lobbing arc rather than direct fire at ground?

Not bad at all!

What about some infantry stuff, but somewhat sleeker, more akin to the xenomorphs? I could imagine some sort of creature like that hiding underneath the sand or waiting in the shadows for its prey...

I love how the bug is turning out. Osoi brings up a good point. Can't wait to see finished product.

I'll likely do a few poses, some more angled.

Is it wrong that when I read Priests of Mars, I pictured the Lupa Capatalina as a standard Lucius-pattern warlord titan, but now as I'm reading the sequel Lords of Mars, I can't help but picture it as a cybershadows leviathan stalker...?

Mmm... not feeling the bug either. The fleshy parts look a bit 'wibbly', particularly compared to the carapace parts.
