Ah, glad to be wrong. Here's the source of my misconception:

To be eligible to start a Kickstarter project, you need to satisfy the requirements of Amazon Payments:

So it's US to start a project, but anyone with an Amazon payment thingy can participate.

Yeah, but recently Kickstarter changed its ToS stating that you had to have a physical product ready for production - you couldn't just have a drawing and say "Give me money!"

There is speculation as to whether or not this applies to games and miniatures though so take that as you will.

We're probably cool there. The Reaper, Mantic, and Low Life Kickstarters employed anywhere from a little (Reaper) to a majority (Low Life) of concept art.

You are correct, but these ToS changes came after the Reaper KS ended. I'm sure the rules are there to fight people promoting vaporware - the Reaper thing had a lot of people (myself included) paying for thoughts in someone's head.

I can confirm that the rule is specifically for products in the design and technology sections NOT games.
It also dosen't ban drawings, only renders.
(The KS team are trying to avoid people mistaking a good render for a finished product).

So you're good to go.

Ok, cool. I know there was some question, but it looks like it was cleared up at some point.

Thanks to a (currently) hidden investor, the license fee has been paid. Mike D is going to sketch up a few variant weapons, and I have prepared the next round of prototypes for Shapewaysing.
