E&C how many sprues would you have to sell to recoup the money invested in such a project?

Depends how good of a deal I can get with my tool cutters. I've sent a number of big jobs their way as part of my freelancing, so they may cut me a good deal. We shall see.

Option A not good enough quality.
Investigating Option B.

Got any idea what the first goalpost would be?

I'd hesitate to guess for the moment. Thousands of pounds, at any rate.

That shouldn't be a problem if done correctly, if they guy who owned Maelstrom games and is universally despised in the hobby community can make 30£k+ kickstarter, then I see no problem with this ;D

Just had a look at that KS and I have to say wow, those models look awesome and would tempt me to try the game. Even if the guy at Mierce is a bit of a tool, he must have done something right to reach £100k.

As much as I want to see more awesome 6mm models, I am not sure just a KS for the models would get there, I suspect it would need to be supported by an actual game with rules and background to bring in more people.

As one of the total of 2 people who's written finished & printed supplements for Epic, I reckon as that wouldn't be impossible.

I'm still getting quotes to see if this is practical.

I don't think any new rules are necessary. Just like what warlord did for 28mm historicals with their plastics, E&C can do with 6mm sci fi no rules needed. Remember the big driver for plastics is price for the customer. A standard cheap Sci fi tank army fits any rules. Hell i would buy sets to give potenital players, 36 tanks is like 2000 odd points at least for epic for less than the price of two movie tickets.

Ok then, before I start a kickstarter, here's the new sprue design:

I'd be looking to produce them in sets of 3 sprues, for £25 (similar tank quantities from other companies would seem to cost £70 or more) giving:

12x MBT's
12x MBT Cannon Turret
3x MBT Long Cannon Turret
12x Artillery Chassis
12x Artillery Cannon
3x Twin Flak Cannon (sized to fit on to the Artillery Chassis)
15x IFV
15x IFV Turret Cannons

Comments?

Looking good E&C.
A couple quick questions:
1- I can't see the 3 Twin Flak Cannons on this spure?
2- the Flak cannons don't look... umm, 'flakky' enough? Can they be made longer or quad barrelled in any way?
3- It's probably been asked but is it a better option to have spures consisting of solely IFV's, Artillery (include AA?) and AFV's (tanks etc)?
With this option the Tank sprue could have 6 (?) hulls and different turret options - long barrelled gun, short barrelled gun, gatling barrel etc?
The Arty spure could contain 8 (?) hulls, with different turret options for long barrelled arty, dual/quad AA and short barrelled howitzer offerings.
The IFV offering could include 8(?) hulls with different turret options including standard turret, turret with flamethrower and storage tanks etc?

Tee

Ben I keep meaning to email you, I will after this. Anyway there is a 6mm project now on kickstarter - robotech. I confess to not having a clue about it.

Kickstarter sounds great!

Maybe with some promo on portals like Beast of War, Bell of Lost Souls etc to reach even more potential backers?!

Ok then.
Make a choice:

Humans + IFV's* plastic sprue.

Bulked up "hulks" + ramshakle vehicles plastic sprue.

*That's an APC with a weapon turret on top.

Need neither. Will buy any.

Ramshackled stuff is perhaps the smartest option seing as noone makes any.
