Might be worth getting an arrangement with a laser cutting Co. Cheaper than getting plastics made and you could offer more variety too.

It's a good idea and I do know someone i'll see if it's possible for him to do them for me. The fenris games ones are a two part .8mm ply design which you have to glue together I wonder if a single piece design would be possible.

Shoot a mail to battlescene designs, he was in the process of designing some last time I checked in. Plus I'm sure he'd welcome some extra business.

Dimensions for rectangular bases from GW (Epic 40k & Epic:A) are: 40mm x 12mm.

So.... Moredakka has been in contact and I'll be doing some rectangular ( and other shaped) bases from acrylic. These will be cut in two parts. A plain base and a top piece with holes cut out. The glued base will be 1.6mm total thickness. I'll also be looking at doing a range of resin bases too. Hopefully these will be stocked by Vanguard in the future all going well.

Really pleased to hear that!

One question, though - I'm assuming that you're laser cutting the acrylic?

Given that most folks will superglue the two halves together they might experience some rather nasty crazing of the plastic. Extruded is worst, but it can also happen with cast...

You can use plastic weld glue on acrylic it works fine and saves on super glue.

And yes +psypher+ I will stock them if that's what folks want.

Yep should really use plastic cement not superglue on those.

Yes, but how do you glue those lovely pewter minis into the holes?

I'm really not trying to pick holes, by the way. I really want these bases to be good (mainly 'cos I will probably end up buying some).

Oh yeah, glue the bases together with plastic cement, but then use superglue to glue metal figures into them. Though actually you can just use PVA probably if you are going to be going over the top with PVA and flock. That will make it easier to remove them if at some point in the future you actually want to rebase them.
