I'm wondering what the resolution and finish would compare to the Invision printers at printapart..

resolution is dictated by the size of hole of the 'plastruder'

the step resolution (ie, vertical layers) for the 'cupcake' made by the same company is 0.37mm, so maybe for buildings or tanks, but maybe not figures.
the cupcake is cheaper, and for epic surely you don't need a huge build area?
also look at rep-rap. I've not been following what level they've reached yet with Mendal.

I wouldn't try and do Epic scale tanks with a resolution than poor. Buildings, okay.

This gives a good impression I think of the level of detaill; nowhere near good enough for anything other than maybe building ruins.

It's really cool that you can get a home 3d printer, but it's not at a useful level yet for our needs.

There's potential there...

Still, I'm not sure a plastic extruder will ever give us the kind of detail we want. May end up buying one anyway, just to check...
