After considering endlessly where I ought to post this, since it applies cross-genre and to some extend across scales, I thought I'd drop it here. Long term project of mine, which I'm referring to as Epic 30k or "Truly Epic Epic" - a 3mm scale Space Marine army. I building two: Ultarmarines and Word Bearers, for campaigns set in the Horus Heresy. ![]() Been a few weeks since I set to work at it but it's starting to re-enter my consciousness. The figs are 3d printed proxies from National Cheese Emporium and an admixture of Oddział Osmy's sci fi line. |

Seen these on another forum great little models i must say. Would have considered 3mm heresy myself if these had been available a few years back. |

Really beautiful. I'll be borrowing the idea of different head colours for my own. |

I think 3mm is the best scale for larger battles/games[ 2 Bns +, Bde and above]. And lends itself to actual battles of modern maneuver mobile combined arms actions. I think GW[and who knows for sure WTF they are or were thinking ?!?], they went for 6mm to get more detail especially in forces like Orks , Chaos, etc. That may be why the new Epic AT is going to be 8mm. (?) But bottom line as we all see here, 3mm is a very good choice for modern/futuristic warfare/games. But we have to remember for the longest time ... GW has repeatedly said in the past. They are primarily a mini company and gaming company 2d. And based on some of the rules they produced that seems clear. Again ... let me say to 3mm SMs ... WOW x 10 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Gnomes_Forge wrote: Amazing! Do you mind if I ask which printing material did you use? I printed them all in "Frosted Ultra Detail." THey still needed a going over with a toothpick to get all the support material off. I understand lye would have helped too, but I don't keep caustic chemicals in the house so I just ran with it. The infantry is all Oddział Ósmy "Venator" powered armor. And thanks for the necro on this - and thank YOU for the compliment, L4! I need to get around to my Word Bearers at some point. |

Hi Mr. Average. Is there anything new on this fabulous 3mm army? Have you created an adversary perhaps? I'm thinking of going a similar route. |
