Is this an updated version of the distant darkness project? I've been using one of these in my tau fleet, but it looks different to the stats I remember (I havent played for a while, so I could be wrong here). Regardless, I like the look of this one better  :;):

I use a DD Protector in my hybrid GW/FW fleet.  It usually is the focus of most of my psychological warfare against my opponent, usually having to do with confusing tactics that rely on it's high maneuverability to make predicting it's purpose in the battle difficult.  Also unexpectedly landing the killing blow on an already crippled Adeptus Mechanicus battleship helps with notoriety too.  It has also done some other bizarre acts mid battle.  My favorite thus far was a case of flying in formation with the other Protectors, and when we passed the enemy line, it used a gravity well to turn around and unload a full weapons salvo into the aft of an Armageddon battlecruiser.

After several Tau engagements against a friends necron fleet, I am considering treating all 4 of my Protectors as DD protectors as the Necs prove difficult enough to deal with without having narrow fire arcs and low maneuverability.  Don't make any mistake, I've had success against the Necs before with Tau, but there was terrain I could easily exploit.

Nice to see two people using this. I did put it on the back burner a little. But I want to fix the fluff in places and jiggle the stats only a wizzy-little.
