Above, ideas for a fan-made Epic supplement akin to Swordwind.

Now my question is if something like that is possible for Battlefleet Gothic.
A good setting
three or four races
etc

maybe even tie in with an epic supplement (seperate supplement but they add up to each other)?
I feel there is....

So you're talking about a storyline driven campaign for 4 or so species in an isolated area of space?  I think such a game setup would be great- it'd be a nice way to incorporate races into a story driven plot that really havent had much to work with before such as the Tau and Dark Eldar-  sure the Tau had the Damocles Gulf / 3SE but it didn't really feel connected to the rest of the galaxy.  I really like the idea especially since all the major battles in the BFG history are the 13th Black Crusade which while incorporating some Eldar and Ork action, it was primarily a IN/Chaos war and Armageddon was once again Imperials and now the Orks presented as a major force to be reckoned with.  Tau, some Imperial faction, Dark Eldar and one more sound good to me cause lets face it- the DE haven't made a huge/significant appearance yet in the storylines so lets give them the chance.

My dear Zhai!? Are you forgetting the epic basis for Battlefleet Gothic that is the tale of Battlefleet Gothic, the saviours of the Gothic sector during the 12th Black Crusade? That is: The Gothic War?

That's three major conflicts that detail BFG-related things rather nicely. Very rather nicely IMO!

In such a manner, however, I feel charting a campaign (like Jimmy Grill's Third Sphere Expansion Campaign), that sees the Tau encountering, say, Orks, Eldar (one form or another) and Tyranids (amongst others) in an effort to set colonise a system or three with what amounts to a massive battlefleet (a colonisation fleet).

Definately worth looking at.

The Gothic War actually takes place more than 800 years before the 13th Black Crusade, so not all BFG battles are set in the 13th crusade period.

The Epic side of this story so far is Tallarn IG, Dark Eldar and Necrons fighting over some godforsaken desert planet.  :D

For me the hardest part of the equations is 'why the Hell would the Dark Eldar stick around once Necrons show up' the 'crons have nothing to steal and can't be enslaved (stupid phase out!). Some thoughts on that would be most appreciated.

Good call on the DE vs Necron issue, always keeps popping up.

Xisor, I had something with Tau in mind too. Especially the CPF could benefit from it, as well as the ECF.

Would it be possible to do a match-up of the following races after sum-up small explanation:

Tau, who want to colonize a system
Dark Eldar, who want to find slaves
Imperial Navy, who want to defend the planet

Fourth:
Orks, nearby looking for fun?
'Nids, hungry as ever?
Chaos, no
Eldar CE, not likely
Eldar CWE, maiden world?
Space Marines, uh...
Rogue Trader fleets?

Back to first 3:
This planet has valuable resources.

Tau, Large ECF fleet enters system to colonize/occupy this planet which humans live on.

The Dark Eldar happened to picked this poorly defended system to find slaves, the turn up of Tau makes it more interesting to them, picking of slow Tau vessels in the large colonization fleet.

The IN has a very small deep space patrol squadron stationed there which is alarmed by nearing Tau fleet. Breaktrough to gather reinforcements?

Under command of Admiral X (whatever) local Rogue Traders (!) try to fend of raiding Dark Eldar ships.

After suffering from Dark Eldar raids the Tau decide to call in a detachment of the CPF for additional protection and a clean sweep of the system.

IN returns with a larger fleet (not mega-large) to twarth the final assault from the Tau ECF/CPF on the mayor planet.

Tau CPF detachment searches Dark Eldar hide outs.


Right direction? And Xisor, Khareshi Expanse mentions available....

I have given no thoughts on victory bonuses.

Alright Xisor, ya caught me! lol  The 13th BC and the Gothic War were both huge sectorwide wars.

But back to the topic at hand, I really like what Blackhorizon is suggesting for a chain of scenarios to play.  It would be really refreshing to have the DE be the main "evil" force to be reckoned with for a change rather than Chaos, Nids, or Orks.

It has some substance and a meaty plot that one can delve more deeply into and yet it is simple, having essentially 3 opposing factions (even though we are talking about multiple divisions it still comes out to DE, Tau and Imperial.

Heres another idea or two for that campaign:

Hide the Goods:  Surprise Attack??
A Rogue Trader is using a battle between Xenos and the Navy as a cover to move much of his more illicit and xeno based wares to a safer and more discreet location.  The Rogue trader must get his transports and cargo ships off the table relatively intact as he would in a Convoy scenario.  All the while, the IN must defend against either a DE raid or a Tau strike.  Perhaps it can just be a single heavy transport escorted by the RT cruiser and attendant escorts.  Meanwhile the IN's only objective is to kill the Aliens- this presents a challenge to the Alien player- he could divert some of his ships to attack the RT but would be weaker against the IN for it.

Blockade Run:  Send for help!
A Trade Haven is in danger from raiders, the IN/RT player must get a ship out to rally aid to protect the station in a coming battle-  If successful the IN player may X points worth of ships in next scenario and or a RT player may gain an extra squadron of Xeno escorts, representing his strong ties to the other inhabitants of the region.  Something to that affect where it directly factors into the next battle.

I suggest you using the Demiurg fleet list instead of the Rogue Trader one, just because the RT list is not really a list in itself, but devised as an add-on for almost any other fleet (trust me, the one who only has RT ships :( )

Mmmm... But Demiurg and Tau are partners.

No, Rogue Traders can be used, especially in a campaign where fleet lists can be fixed with historical fleets, you know what I mean.

But only some  Demiurg clans are known to be partners of the Tau. there are others which work as mercenaries, and some which fight on their own, so you could use them in any of those roles. Also, we have Xysor rules for Demiurg fleets (which are cool).

The RT really DESERVE a list on their own, but maybe it would be beyond the scope of this supplement... and trust me, using the "Fabric of the Empire" ships on their own, with the restrictions about the use of RT cruisers, will get you playing with loads of escorts, and it's no fun when you have to play fleet engagements against full-fledged fleets (at least that has been my experience)

If Tau ECF win: +100pts of fleet available in scenario III.
