Forgeting the actual fleet for the moment, where did you get this fluff? As far as I know these guys don't make crystaline ships, they make whatever they 'need' instinctually. And make ships of specfic shapes that react with the fabric of the universe (of both normal and warp space). They're non agressive (they're just survivers). They travel in families. This is all from memory so I'm not certain. Where can background on this race be found? Cheers, RayB |

Hi Ray, If I'm not mistaken, the Jokaero are mentioned in the original 40k RPG book... Rogue Trader. Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak. |

If only I could get a hold of that book! But as it is so old, you could/should consider alot of its fluff out of date! Cheers, RayB |

I have read the old fluff, and I did take a bit of liberty. They were orange space monkeys, and they did have "lattice ships" though there was not a great deal of clarity about what kind of lattice it actually was. I purposefully left out much about the race and focused on the ships so as not to divert too much from the fluff of olden days. |

Well as far as I understand, their spaceship 'technology' was based on specific shapes to do different tasks (or move in different directions). (Imagine a pick stick heap floating through space!) As I said I don't have access to all the fluff and such, but this does seem quite clear in my mind (or it could just be a recovered memory! ![]() Cheers, RayB |

I always envisaged them as looking like a giant greasy scaffold, constantly changing shape to change direction. they didn't have walls, but the shape of the ship/lattice retained oxygen, and channeled energy from the universe itself:80: The jokaero were continuously changing its shape in order to change direction(!) I like your rules Rowan, however I think they should have some form 'Macgyver' ability, where they spend a turn changing a weapon into something else. this way you can represent the fact that they can build anything, and do it fast (like the RT fluff says). As it goes, I was thinking about this today. What was I thinking, I hear people cry(daily, sometimes!)? Well, how about the Jokaero ship uses a different ship profile dependent on different things? Well, I'll explain: Speeds/turns dependent on the initial facing of the vessel(Jokaero player picks a table edge and uses it effectively like a sunward edge as the Eldar do) Weapons/armour/turrets dependent on the final facing of the vessel. Profile/Turns etc could vary widely making it an extremely interesting set fo ships to use! I like the idea myself, and it totally captures the fact they're ships have to change themselves to do...anything! Xisor |

Gud ships, nice fluff. Why not just change the name of the race to something completely new. Then no one can say u got the fluff wrong ![]() |

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I'm gonna come up with a different race for these rules, but I've also have a few thoughts of how to create a Joakero ship as well. Give me a day or so and I'll update both. |
