we started BFG again, after a year of not playing. This means running into some "silly" dillemas over again

First Necron portal:
I read the rules again and confused myself. My conclusion from the wording in rules is:
- can't make them when on special orders or crippled (as teleports) - that is straight forward
- escorts get 1 attack, but what about scythe 2 or 3 (wording says additional H&R, hence the confusion ...)

thanks for this, and I have another one:

When do I decide how to disrtibute direct fire?
Since wecouldn't find a good answer we decided that for example we shoot gauss (2 & 2 at different ships) and then after rersolving effects of this, distribute lightning - is this correct course of action??
