Note about Dragonship & Shadowhunter in Biel-Tan thread. Fleet Commander You may choose an Admiral or Fleet Admiral to lead the fleet. Fleets greater than 750 pts must include a Lord to lead it. Fleets of greater than 2000 pts must include a Fleet Admiral. The Seer Council may only be taken if your fleet includes a Fleet Admiral to lead it. 0-1 Admiral 50 pts Leadership 9, 1 re-roll Fleet Admiral 100 pts Leadership 10, 1 re-roll, +1 boarding A Fleet Admiral may be upgraded to ?Hero? status for +50 pts. A Lord can take extra re-rolls at the following cost: One Extra Fleet Command re-roll 25 pts Two Extra Fleet Command re-rolls 50 pts Three Extra Fleet Command re-rolls 100 pts 0-1 Seer Council (comes with one Foresight power) 100 pts A Seer Council can have extra Farseers at the following cost: One extra Farseer (+1 Foresight power) 50 pts Two extra Farseers (+2 Foresight power) 100 pts A Seer Council starts with one Foresight Power (FSP) and can gain up to 2 more by adding additional Farseers. A Foresight Power allows any one ship to go onto BFI (automatically) after the dice have been rolled to hit, gaining a 4+ retroactive save against each hit scored (re-roll criticals). The use of this power does not have to be declared before rolls to hit and overrides the Eldar Arrogance special rule. Can only be taken if the fleet has a Fleet Admiral to lead it. Spiritseer - 25 points You may take one Spiritseer for every 500 points or part thereof. They must me stationed aboard a Ghostship Also, half of the capital ships (see next point) will be Ghostships so this is a way to provide re-rolls for half of the Iyanden fleet. Hopefully the 500 point limit keeps Ghostships doing nothing occasionally. Capital Ships Flame of Asuryan [I[if fleet led by Hero[/I] 320 pts + 20 pts for aspect warriors (note, model has a-boats) Dragonship 260 pts (1 per 2 Wraithships) + 20 pts for aspect warriors, + 10 pts for a-boats, +10 pts for boarding torps. Wraithship 160 pts + 20 pts for aspect warriors, + 10 pts for a-boats, +10 pts for boarding torps. Ghostships free fleet must consist of at least 50% of ghostships Ghostships have -1Ld. If one fails a command check it will do nothing in the turn (or following turn in case of BFI) but you may still attempt further command checks for ?living? ships, though not for other Ghostships. Further, Ghostships cannot benefit from command re-rolls, though they can still benefit from Foresight Powers & Spiritseers. May not have Fleet Commanders or Aspect Warriors aboard. Cannot launch boarding actions or H&R attacks and enemies boarding or using H&R against them get a +1 bonus. Attempts to repair criticals are made with half the normal number of dice. Keel weaponry replaced by 4WB@30cmF for Wraithships and 8WB@30cmF for Dragonships. add: under MSM: Ghostships crippled at 2 hits left add: under MMS: Ghostships ignore ?Fragile?, ?Dying Race? and ?Eldar Arrogance? rules. Escorts Shadowhunters 40 pts Ordnance Any capital ship with launch bays may choose to have them launch any mix of Nightwing fighters and Phoenix bombers. Ships with torpedo tubes are armed with Eldar torpedoes. Some Eldar ships have access to Vampire Assault boats or boarding torpedoes. Attack Rating Due to the fact that they must defend their Craftworld, Craftworld fleets are more constrained in their tactical choices. Consequently they have an Attack Rating of 3. Reserves Craftworld fleets may take Corsair Eldar ships as reserves at a ratio of 3 Craftworld ships of a single type to 1 Corsair of the same type. If a Hero is included, this ratio becomes 2:1. edit: * added spiritseer * seer council more expensive * added ghostships MMS/MSM tweak |

The list in Fanatic is the Iyanden list. The elements you have for fleet commanders would be a good basis for a Ulthwe list. |

I don't think the list in Fanatic is Iyanden, at least not one I like to see, to few Ghostships for example (0-3). The Fanatic article uses Iyanden fluff but made in my opinion a vanilla CWE list. |

The Seer council fits better with Ulthwe. IMO a Spiritseer character that helps out the Ghostships would be a better fit for Iyanden. The SG fleet is "Iyanden" but not really Iyanden. Spiritseer - 25 points You may take one Spiritseer for every 500 points or part thereof. They must me stationned aboard a Ghostship Also, half of the capital ships (see next point) will be Ghostships so this is a way to provide re-rolls for half of the Iyanden fleet. Hopefully the 500 point limit keeps Ghostships doing nothing occasionally. Ghostships: a fleet must consist of at least 50% of ghostships By points, model count, capital ships, something else? One option to consider is all Wraithships are Ghostships, however all Dragonships are "normal." This would mean a large number of Ghostships are present and the larger Dragonships lead the fleet (and provide support for the Wraithships/Ghostships in the form of Spiritseers). Then again, it may be a bit much. Can Ghostships squadron with "normal" ships? |

Good points Archer. I'll include the spiritseer. But why drop the Seer council? It's limited to 1 in the whole fleet and you need to take an fleet admiral to get to it. For Ulthw? I was planning to drop all restricitions on the Seer Council. Ah yeah, the 50% rule needs indeed some fleshing out. Still pondering.... Ghostships can't squadron with normal ships. Personally, from an admiral point of view, I wouldn't do it anyway! |

Seer councils are an Ulthwe thing since they have so many seers (IIRC). Also, I don't think it's likely for anyone to take multiple seer councils, and chances are they will normally be taken after an admiral is anyways, unless they prove excessively powerful. IMO decent ghostships and Spiritseers that help offset the downside to Ghostships (like Seers with Wraithguard) is sufficient to distinguish Iyanden from the other craftworlds. It doesn't go overboard with new material and only adds slightly to the fleet, like the Biel-Tan list. |

Okay, points taken. Before I remove them I'll think over them, really since SG included farseers in their supposed to be Iyanden list. What do you think of the Ghostship rules I presented. They where made by Sigoroth, I removed the parts MMS specific wich gave even more flavour. |

The ghostships are almost 100% things that make them worse than normal (being able to fail a ghostship's command check and continue with "normal" ships the only good thing). Since crippling is noted to normally be due to crew casualties and not damage to the ship, perhaps they should benefit from not being crippled until brought down to 2 hits as a bit of an upside? |

Re-reading the ghostships without the MMS touch I see what you mean. Hope the next Warp Rift is released soon, the Eldar MMS rules will appear in that one. Basically, they ignore ?Fragile?, ?Dying Race? and ?Eldar Arrogance? rules. Adding your idea of crippled at 2 hits left would make sense in MSM (Fragile under MMS does the same in a way). I'll add both Ghostship rules in the near future. Still in major doubt on the seer council... |
