Hi guys,

I just posted this at the SG boards, but it may be relevant here...

I hadn't realised how long it's been since I was around - the most recent work for BFG I have put together, the Q'orl fleet list, has been done over at GothiComms.

However, since the Q'orl are now in stasis - since despite their presence in Xenology, there has been no in-house development of the Swarmhood, and thus my list can't go into FOM... - and the CPF forum list has pretty much been done (in more ways than one!) I don't have anything keeping me in BFG anymore.

In fact, even in Epic - where I am eternally grateful for the open development process - an abject lesson for BFG! - once I finish getting 3000pts' worth painted up and the Gue'senshi go into FOM, all I'll likely be doing is keeping an eye from time to time for updates to the Tau list, for relevant changes to the Grenadiers' own list.

These days, I'm looking more at WFRP2 - though I don't know how well or not any contributions I make will be accepted - and in getting more games of Federation Commander under my belt and putting together a couple of L'Anguille-themed armies for Warhammer.

So, for the time being at least, I'm done with BFG.

One day, if an Epic-style open dev system is introduced, I'd likely be back - but the well of interest has dried up.

Have fun guys.

Gary

Hi Gary,

I understand how you feel... I'm in much the same boat.

Shalom,

It is a shame to hear that, but I do hope that you will continue to visit us here. Many understand your frustration.

All the best.

It's not so much frustration as... well... apathy.

I just don't have that feeling for BFG anymore (I still love the fluff, my resin Tau minis etc, but playing the game itself - or should I say, trying to be involved in the process of playtesting/development...)

And I'll be around for Epic stuff - you haven't got rid of me that easily!

Besides, i still intend to use my Protectors as Morays, when I get the chance to play that is!

Gary

In truth, that is exactly how I felt about Epic. I was not so angry as just did not care any more.

Well put.

But as this board offers other opportunities to interact, I am here.  :;):

I rarely play or paint epic at all anymore.
But I'm still interested generally

I have made lots of good e-friends here whom I enjoy chatting with on and off the boards.  Thats hard to find anywhere, and so I'm still here too!

Ditto.
Total no. of Epic games played in last 7 years - 0
Total no. of BFG games played in last 7 years - 0
Total no. of VSf games played in last 7 years - 0

Total no. of WHFB+WH40K in last 7 years - ~20, and that's because these are the most popular around here.

And yet - still around for the fun
:p

Nerroth, i know how you feel... Hope that you some day return here, as your contributions have been great. You see, that Gue'senshi list may not be official, but i've been wondering about buying some of those expensive-as-latinum tau infantry to use them, and a friend of mine (who has a very small tau army) is wondering about doing the same. You see, i sense that the stuff published here at epicomms is as official as that from GW. Even more balanced, as it's generally more playtested. Anyway, your list is great, in concept and in balancing.

Hope i read you soon!

Hey Gary,

sad to hear, but don't let the SG/GW policy hamper your fun to play a still great game.

Don't let them win in that department. :p

My interest in BFG waxes and wanes. Right now it is on the rise, but I have not played BFG in quite a few months. Sad but true. IMO it is one of those games that achieves outstanding results with a very simple system. it is a sound gaming system, even if I have some concerns regarding some of the fleets. But there you are: if I find pronblems is with fleet design, not with game mechanics. that is more than can be said for a number of other GW games!! :D

So take it easy. You have done a great job so far and specialist games is something I keep returning to, no matter if I put them in hiatus from time to time.

getting out of the loop for some of the games I play is something normal to me, since I simply do not have enough time to play everything! :p In a while you might get an itch in the back of your miond, that can only be easened playing BFG again. Then it is the moment to return to it :) Wax and wane. A usual and IMO even a healthy process.

Keep it up and good luck with everything

Cheers,

Xavi

Been "Epicing" since '90 ... we'll keep it alive here, as I said ... And if G/W was never to produce another Epic piece, I'm still going to work on my 6mm Sci-fi. ?And now with DRM ... who needs G/W ! ?We're going to be the center of the 6mm Sci-fi Uni ! :;): ?:alien:   If we're not already !

Guys, guys - I'm not chucking Epic!

I'm taking a break from BFG (well, I may play a bit - ironically there seems to be an interest among the staffers in GW Dublin in setting up a few fleets, so I'll porbably use the Forum CPF list for those - but development-wise, no more) but I have said I'm still going to be around for the 6mm game.

And when I finish painting 3000pts worth, keep an eye on FOM...

Xavi
