Is it just me or does the world of BFG seem to have died completely? I've not seen anything for it in ages. Whilst I'm at it, what's happened to all the BFG related posts on here? Seems to be like it's dead & buried now... shame ![]() |

As far as I know, a release for the 2.0 BFG main ruleset is scheduled for sometime next year. |

Any idea when this will be coming out? What will be in it? Any new ships? What about before this? ?I'd like some new ships. That doesn't explain what's happened to this board thou'. when I first started there used to be loads of BFG topics to read & reply to, it's just not the same.... ![]() |

Hi Campsie, no , it's just a very vague notice on the online store. It's just a rerelease of the book, nothing new. |

Actually, as far as I know, the new book should be a completely new edition, with rule clarifications and complete army lists for all the BFG races, with Andy Chambers involved in the development. Although who knows, given Fanatic "reorganizations"..... you may check out Andy's site for more info: http://www.redstargames.net/forum/ |

Hi Campsie. I have n?t posted much on BFG because I have n?t been playing it recently. Although both myself and several friends at local gaming club love the game, we only meet up once a week, and in that time we are playing so many different games that some fall by the wayside. I was lucky that I was able to nudge a few people back towards Epic. Once we have got some games of Epic under our belts I am sure we will give BFG another go. What are you up to BFG wise? Cheers James |

Aside from doing some painting here and there on my Tau (SG) fleet I haven't been into BFG much recently...Then again I haven't had the chance to game much period...It's that time of year... Oh, and I've been too busy recently writing the AB datafiles for Babylon 5: A Call To Arms...There's another game I wish people around here played... All in all noone seems to want to play anything except Fantasy (well and 40K but I have no real interest in that anymore)...Grrrr... |

Just recently I've managed to get some games in at the Leeds store. Apart from that I've been painting my Sword frigates for my Chaos fleet, oh' and I've been looking for some sleek looking ships for a Slann fleet I want to do. I need something that looks very smooth. If there's anyone in the Leeds area I'd be happy to give you a game. I've got a few of the Babylon 5 ships, does anyone know what it plays like? ![]() |

As far as I heard, second edition has been held off for a while after the restructuring of Fanatic, but I not completely sure about its existance. It should be basically the previous version, updated with things like the new ordnance and Nova rules, and integrating all of the questions and answers. It may also integrate Armada, but I am not sure about this. Whether we will actually ever see it is anyones guess. BFG 'suffers' because it is a simpler game than Epic - not that it is less strategic, but that there are limits on the number of things that can be done. It is more like Chess, rather than Epic which is a more open wargame. This means that rules questions are limited, and the limited variable weapons makes ship design fairly straight-forward and relative un-necessary. The Gothic section of this site grows and shrinks. I am hopeful that we will see more traffic for Gothic here in the near future. It is a bit of a vicious circle, as an active forum encourages more posts and interaction.... and these boards naturally lean more towards Epic. I hope that the Gothic side will increase without shrinking the Epic side. We need more discussion! ![]() |

Its a little more complex then BFG...Lots more special orders and the like...I have yet to play it (again no one in this area wants to play anything but WFB and maybe BFG)...I'll have to reread them for a full review but once I do I'll post it in generic wargames forum... Incidentally I'm a little over halfway through writing the AB3.0 datafiles for B5:CTA...I love the fluff (show), the models are great and reasonably priced...The coolest thing about the game is all you need to play is the boxed set...It includes cardboard counters for all of the basic ships...And finally Mongoose accepts fleets comprised of counters, Mongoose minis and/or Agent's of Gaming minis at their tournements...What other company would allow players to bring models made by another company? Even if the company has been out of business for years... |

Well, around here it is damn active. In january or so, I started getting mails from some of the members of my gaming group in barcelona. The group is around 50 persons, but only around 12 regulars and the rest irreguulars. Well, 6 of those regulars are starting BFG ![]() Same happened in november with blood bowl and now with DBM. Seems we are expanding the horizons of warhammer fantasy battles. Finally ![]() So nope, around here it is not dead but on the contrary. Regards, Elmoth |
