Just wondering if anyone tried making deck plans for the Battleships?

My BFG project that I've been working on starts off with a Space Station, and I'm thinking of doing deck plans for this (and eventually when I get to building the battleships, deck plans for these as well).

Aren't they like... tens of kilometers long?

??? Groovy.. like blueprints you mean?

yeah, they are big; battleships about 7km long, cruisers 3km and escorts <1km.. so you won't be able to pick out individual bunks on your plan I would guess, unless you have a very large bit of paper.... :D

Well I wasn't thinking of that much detail  :D

I thought that BBs were like 12 km and cuisers like 8 km.... In any case they are massive, yup

And nope, I have not tried to do so. There is a GW game that appears in an old WD (and I think somewhere in the website) called "warmaster" IIRC. it is a tokens game played in hours' battleship during the assault on terra. Maybe it can be useful. Check it :)

Health and sixes,

Xavi

Hmmm.... one of my tissues should suffice. If it fits my nose, then it should easily be able to cope with a mere 7km battleship :p.

In Execution Hour (BL BFG novel) cruisers are stated as being 3km long- the other lengths have been picked up through what the designers have said, discussions on the Yahoo! list, etc...

Good idea about the boardgame...  :)

And this is just the sort of thing I love doing- you can't beat pictures of massive spaceships!  :;):

haha, yeah, I think I remember that game. Just wonder where I put it considering I moved houses since that issue.

Work's been a bit slow recently so I've been thinking and doing sketches for my space station I made at

http://www.lexcore.co.uk/Epic4/Special03.htm

Now considering the scale I've just been told, think I may need to re-think my strategy. And a bit of re-painting. The middle section I only have two layers of windows, so may need to make these smaller :(

so far, the top dome is my observation/research/sensor area

Top section contains two levels (but may need to up this due to the scale). First level is the command center.

The second level of the top section contains officer quarters around the rim, and hollow in the center for the middle section to move into in times of battle.

The middle section (which as mentioned above will be covered by a deck above and below) contains the residential quarters, recreational and medical facilities

The lower half consists of once again hollow section for the middle section to move into. Around the rim is mainly storage space and corridors to access the outer three docking bays and defence guns. The bottom level will contain the engineer and armoury.

The bottom small section contains the engines and reactor.

I've never heard of that game - has anyone got any more details on it?

I was never that impressed with the game. It was a free insert in an issue of WD, with a grid board representing Horus' battle barge. You also had counter represeting things like Horus himself, Sanguinus, Plague Marines, Daemons, etc. Each counter had an attack and a defence value. It was simple, and along the same lines as 'Doom of the Eldar'.

I thought it was quite fun... but then I liked the Horus Heresy game... didn't like Doom of the Eldar tho... far too random. Never played either of the armageddons.
