I'm trying to build a decent 750pt tau fleet but find it difficult to.
Here's what I have currently.
List 1:
Tau Kor'el
Explorer (Torp Version) Starship w/ 2x Orcas
Explorer (Torp Version) Starship w/ 2x Orcas
1x Squad of 3x Defender Escorts
The idea is the explorers would provide torp and launch craft for the battle and the Orcas would watch rear and flanks. The Defenders would also fire torps and add some battery fire up close if needed.
List 2:
Tau Kor'el
Explorer Starship
Hero Cruiser
2x Squads of 3x Defender Escorts
The idea here is a little more sound, the Explorer hangs back and launches attack craft but the Hero will attempt to hit the enemy head on with the Defenders. Together the two squads of defenders and Hero cruiser can lay down four lance shots, firepower 4, 6, and 6 battery, and 18 torps.
What do you guys think?

Or better yet since I don't need an Explorer at 750pts, what about this one?
List 3:
-Merchant Cruiser (upgraded to 6 hits) and 2x Orcas
-Merchant Cruiser (upgraded to 6 hits) and 2x Orcas
-Hero Cruiser (Standard one with lances)
-Hero Cruiser (Standard one with lances)
This gives me 4 cruisers and a squad of 4 escorts to watch my flanks and rear. Obviously the Merchants will be squadroned together for a combined firepower of 12 at 45cm and to squadron the Orcas into a squad of 4.
No defenders, but they seem a little over priced for this point level.
