Hi all,
A small quandary with respect to fleet proportions for the imperials. ?I think of the fleet of being comprised of "anvil" units, such as all criusers, battlecruisers and battleships, and "Hammer" units, such as light cruisers and escorts. ?My question is because my tactic is to advance in a concave line of torpedo-ey and nova cannon-ey "anvil" units, and as the enemy gets into hitting range have my "hammer" units (in the shape of several cobras,) jump out from behind and generally run amok. ?What would you think to be a good proportion of "Anvils" to "Hammers"?
Cheers,
Fleetmaster.

I agree. It pretty much depends on the nerves of your opponent. your "Hammer" force should be big enough to scare him and drive his forces into your anvil. However if it gets too big there won't be much anvil left I guess you just have to try it out and see what happens.
Cheers!

It will totally depend on your mission and the terrain.
Wide ranging free areas will allow fast light units more manouvre room to flank and get into position, but denies them cover. A cluttered area denies them the freedom of movement they need to strike but give ambush opportunities.
The speed and charcteristics of your enemy also need to be thought about. a fast enemy will turn on your hammer units and destroy them before the anvils get into range.
There is no perfect solution that will work every time, only considerations to balance for each scenario

I would go hammer-heavy here, simply because these vessels also have the speed to be where they are needed. And, a larger anvil makes it harder to avoid, and Imperials lend themselves to theanvil role more than Chaos.

Yes, the hammer and anvil is a tactic better suited to the imps.
The hammer units would stay behind the anvils (out of harms way..hehe) until the enemy is within spitting distance, and would the leap out from behind and join with the torpedo salvo of doom in order to rip the enemy a new one. 50-50 or 60-40 With the anvils in majority would probably work fine.
