Allright, I've remodeled the basic ship design a bit and came up with this stats. Since the stats I originally came up with turned out to be quite similar to the Defiant class Light cruiser I've based the new stats more or less on this vessel but with stron ties to the Dauntless also.

Sleipner class Escort Carrier: 170 points

Type: Light Cruiser/6
Speed: 25, Turns 90?, Shields:1, Armour 5+, turrets 1

Dorsal Weapons battery: L/R/F 30cm, FP: 1
Starboard Launch Bays: 3 Squdns 30cm Furies/Starhawks
PortLaunch Bays: 3 Squdns. 30 cm Furies/ Starhawks

The vessel should possibly get reduced hull armour to make it more vulnerable.

The Sleipner class Escort Carrier was developed near the end of the Gothic War as a stop gap measure. Imperial losses of Dictators and the rarity of the Emperor class Battleship meant that Fleet commanders found themselves low on carrier ships. Several experiments were conducted on Dauntless Light Cruiser hulls. The result was a light cruiser with considerable carrier capacity. However the many launch facilities meant that Armour had to be compromized in several critical areas. Only a handfull of Sleipner Class Escort Carriers were ever constructed. They usually operate in squadrons combined with Dauntless class cruisers for the added protection of the Dauntless' guns.
The speed of the Sleipner makes it ideal for flanking manouvres however it must do so with considerable escort protection since it's weak armour makes it very vulnerable to counter attack.

Cheers! ?:)

Indeed. :D
The best vessel to compare it to is really the Styx class heavy cruiser since they share similar ordinance capacity.
The Styx is 120 points more expensive. However it does have more Lance shots at greater range, a 6fp Weapons battery, 2 shields, more turrets and most improtantly better armour.
The idea is that this vessel can deal out a significant punch if it isn't destroyed early on in the battle. The enemy must make an effort to destroy it and the Imperial player has to commit a considerable ammount of resources to protect it since it is rather fragile.

Cheers! :)

Sounds good, WMN, and the tactical requirements for using it make it interesting. And in case I hadn't said it elsewhere - really nice model, oh great conversionist! ?:D
