I've come up with two imperial fleet lists, first one balanced (I think), second possibly cheesy. What do you think? Oh, and is it possible to have a fleet with just cruisers (not battlecruisers) and escorts?
FLEET 1: (Balanced)
1 Fleet admiral with one reroll (75 pts)
1 Dominator cruiser (flagship) (190 pts)
1 Dictator (220 pts)
2 Lunars (360 pts)
4 Swords (120 pts)
TOTAL: 965 Pts (What could I get for the remaining 35 pts?)
2nd FLEET: (Possibly cheesy)
As above, but with no rerolls for Fleet Admiral and 1 Mars in place of dictator.
TOTAL: 990 pts
Both fleets are for fighting chaos by the way. How well would each do?
What does everyone think? And is the 2nd fleet cheesy?

I would go with the first fleet. You always want at least one re-roll. for 35 points I would get another sword.

And how about this for a chaos fleet?
1 warmaster, with 2 rerolls (100 pts)
1 Hades (200 pts)
1 Devastation (190 pts)
2 murders (340 pts)
3 infidels (120 pts)
TOTAL: ?950 pts.
What does this look like? ?(Its anti-Imp, by the way)
Another thing... would the Imperial fleet at 1000 pts have to take a fleet admiral, if so what does he cost, and if not, is he a worthwhile investment?
And how does the "Reload ordnance" rule work?

Your fleet looks quite solid. I have never been a fan of the Hades (or any of the larger cruisers), but that is more about personal taste. I would probably give the Warmaster a Mark of Chaos rather than a second reroll, but again that is more my taste.
I am not an Imperial player, but I believe that any Imperial fleet above 750 points must have a commander. I cant remember the cost right now, but if you go to:
http://www.epic40k.co.uk/rules/index.html#gothic
And click on the link for the Battlefleet Gothic Ship Registry you may fund it useful.
As for Reload, it depends on what set of rules you use. In the original rules (the Blue Book), you must use a Reload Ordnance special order to... well... reload the ordnance. If you fire torpedoes or attack craft, you need to reload before firing again. You simply need to pass a leadership test (this is not a command check. A command check means that you cant roll any more if you fail). If you roll under the leadership, you pass and reload. If you roll over then you fail and dont reload. If you roll a double then you are out of ordnance (if you passed it is your last batch and you cant reload again, if you failed then that is your lot. Tough).
Then new ordnance rules were released and things changed a little.

"If you passed it is your last batch and you can't re-roll again"
I assume this applies to when you roll doubles only?
