Right then, what do you think I should add next to my Imperial fleet.
This is what it consists of at the moment;
Battleships:
Apocalypse Retribution
BC
Mars Overlord Armaggedon
Cruisers
Lunar Dominator Gothic x2 Tyrant Murder Dictator Vulcan Relentless
LC
Hawking Dauntless Punisher
Escorts
Firestorm Sword x2 Nightshade Sword (SM)

Looks like the only thing needed is more escorts.

Ok, let's take a look at your list
Battleships:
Apocalypse Retribution
You could go for the third BB, the emperor. It is a really nice carrier with some hefty WB firepower. Actually, it is my prefered BB. Since you already have 2 is not a high priority, though.
BC
Mars Overlord Armaggedon
Well assorted here. You could go for a second armageddon (I sometimes have fuielded 2 of them for great results. Again, not a high priority
Cruisers
Lunar Dominator Gothic x2 Tyrant Murder Dictator Vulcan Relentless
Here we start to see some ways to really improve your fleet You have a broad selection of cruisers, but seems like you are low in "cruiser teams" or squadrons. Lunars, for example work better in pairs or trios. I would get a pair of lunars more. I have found them to truly be the workorses for my fleet. Variety is good, but sometimes you need working teams
LC
Hawking Dauntless Punisher
An other dauntless would be really handy as well. You could try fielding a pair of them supported with 3-5 firestorms. that is some serious fast lance firepower team! I don't know what the punisher or hawking are (I assume they were BFG magazine vessels) so can't comment on that. Again, a lot of variety but no real working teams. A single dauntless is quite poo. 2-3 of them working together is a good team.
Escorts
Firestorm Sword x2 Nightshade Sword (SM)
You DEFINITIVELY need more escorts! One or 2 escorts are complete poo. Escorts need to be AT LEAST in trios to be slightly effective. Swords, cobras and more firestorms are a must IMO. It is a little bit weird that you have some eldar/chaos vessels in your fleet as well, heh.
Well, hiope tht helped.
Health and sixes,
Xavi

Are the escorts individual or does the 'x2' mean two squadrons?
I would agree with Xavi almost completely- more cruisers and escorts is the main thing. Escort wise; a couple more squadrons of cobras, 1 squadron more of swords, and you could maybe get a pack of Falchions for a little variety... I would also suggest a couple more Lunars to form hard hitting little squadrons with, and another Tyrant wouldn't go amiss either!
You could also consider a Vengeance- I havn't got one, so I can't go into it's relative gaming merits, but if you like the model and want something a little different, try one out...

Sorry for the confusion.
The Escorts are Sq of 3 ships each.
THe Punisher is an Arbites craft. Can't remeber from which issue & the Comet is a long rang LC, again can't remember which issue - was something to do with an hidden eldar craftworld in some sort of cloud:O

The reason I've got a Murder class in my fleet is quite simple, they were the most widly produce vessel of their time so I just thought some wuold still be in the Imp fleet.
I was later justified by Armarda, cool.
As for the Eldar, their part of my serfdom, so they provide some ships for part of the fleet.
Fluff wise, they came from a small exodite world which was about to be consumed by chaos (my other fleet). The Imperial fleet rescused what was left & now they co-exist in the same sector receiving aid & also providing aid when needed. (i've also converted a couple of Eldar to be part of my Imp Gaurd).
I'm also intending to add a small contingent of Tau. Not quite worked the fluff out, but something along the lines of being disalusioned with the whole greater good thing. Again they'd also be a small colony within my sector.
