Hi guys. I managed to pick up Armada today, and I thought that I would report back to let you know whatit involved. In brief, it covers:

Imperial Apocalypse, Oberon, Vengeance, Avenger, Exorcist, Armageddon, Endeavour, Endurance, Defiant, Falchion

Spac Marine fleets

Imperial Bastion fleets

Ramilies starfort

Chaos Planet Killer, Retaliator, Executor, Daemonships, Abaddon, Chaos Marine fleets

Eldar Void Stalker, Aurora, Solaris

Dark Eldar fleet

Ork Hulks, Roks, the four Battleships, Hammer

The Necron fleet

The Tyranid fleet

The Tau fleet, Kroot, Demiurg, Nicassar

Pictures of most of the new vessels

New Scenarios

A couple of pages reprinted from Warp Storm with the new torpedoes and Escort carriers, Q Ships, Armed freighter and Heavy transports.

I hope that this is informative. The Armada book fits very nicely with teh Blue Book, and compiles all of the extra vessels together. Not a bad tome.

Sounds like all the info I need in one place, finally.  I may just have to steal a few quid out of the missus purse.  }:)

I would wait until the second reprint. Several members of the yahoo BFG list already saw editing mistakes in this first one, specially in the tyranid fleet. This is why I have not rushed to the local GW store...yet :D

Regards,

Xavi

What does the Bastion fleet have in it?

Also, I remember Imperial reserve fleets being advertised for being in this book, they must have been cut to save space.

Cheers

Chris

The Bastion fleet is the Imperial Reserve fleet. I cant remember off the top of my head, but it has basically Chaos ships, with special rules to make them old and under-maintained.

IIRC they are NOT the same. I might be wrong since I have not seen the book, but in the yeahoo list they said that Bastion fleets are fleets for bastion systems like Cadia or Agripinaa, while reserve fleets are that, fleets with chaos ships that are more expensive. Some people has commented that the chaos ships don't seem worthwile in a IN fleet due to several things. i suppose it will have to be ested. After all you are trying to get the best of both worlds. Some ships that can be included are repulsive, murder, carnage. I think that Slaughters and Devastations are out, even if I am unsure about the devs.

Regards,

Xavi

The book also includes Battlefleet Armageddon.
The Reserve fleet is a variation of the Bastion fleet which includes all the IN vessels that the Bastion fleet doesn't, plus 5 classes of chaos cruiser, heavy cruiser and Grand Cruiser. the problem is that these are restricted as per the reserves of Battlefleet Armageddon and have unreliability issues and some difficulty in deciding who they are fighting for...

Yes. I was about to post this. Both the Bastion and Reserve fleets are included. The Bastion fleets are the defences for sub-sectors, etc. The reserve fleets allow Imperial players to use Chaos vessels, but they pay heavily for them as they are very easily shaken and could 'go rogue'.

Bought it today,

I mist admit I'm very disapointed with it.

I've got most of the BFG mags so it's only reprinting them in a nice new book.

I was hoping for some new ship classes.

Never mind :{

But the Armada lists feature a few changes (check the Space Marine turrets, the Daemonships affect with Mark of Slaanesh, etc). The lists are elsewhere, but they are different in many cases.

Got my copy yesterday, in general happy with the result, if only to have everything in one place and with the nice line drawings, I think that the variations on the Imperial lists offer some interesting options, as long as you are not a win at all costs type player. The only resevation that I have is that the standard of editing and proofreading seems to be poor, three mistakes in the Imperial section that I noted.

regards...
