I just got 2 Auroras from Forgeworld as part of a belated Christmas present to myself ( :) ) and I was surprised by how big they were, even given Forgeworld's tendency to be on the large size of any scale divides. The good news is that they could make suitable Shadow proxies, especially as I only have Eclipses at the moment. Now I've just got to get used to the weight as they're my first resin purchases.

I really wanted Aurora's, but have never got round to actually buying them.

Tell me how they are in a game.  I'd also like to get the Solaris, but  it's not as good looking.

Haven't the Auroras got pulsars?  I'd think they'd look more like an Eclipse.

Shadow Hunter, do you have the Epic mag in which the rules were written? That will tell you if they have pulsars or not.

Cheers

They have indeed got Pulsars (and torps). However, they look different enough from an Ecilipse to avoid mix ups due to the size difference and lack of launch bays. Technically while the do have lances, in friendly games they are just "really big calibre gun batteries". That way I can deploy them as either Auroras or Shadows, both of which I previously lacked. Shouldn't be a problem as long as make very clear what they are before the game begins :)

I'll post any future opinions but at the best of times I rarely play BFG and at the moment a number of things are looming large. Got to save up with lots of work, try to start actually painting a few things, finsh uni & my dissertation, then begin looking for a house/fulltime work. At this rate my next game will be in 2005 (and I'm being semi-serious)!

What I had in mind was a game called the Fox and the Hounds, set in the aftermath of the Eye of Terror camapign. Basicaly Abaddon and the P/K get separate from his fleet by a violent warpstorm and the remains of a scouting force of Imperial/SM/Eldar light cruisers that had been tailing him at a discrete distance seize the opportunity to attack. Inspire by the Battle of the River Plate, one big ship vs lots of smaller capital vessels. It'll either be totally unbalanced, a lot of fun or both!

Shadow hunter - If you gow to GW website, then go to Specialist games, then BFG, followed by resources, the rules for the Aurora and Solaris should be there IIRC.
