Hi all, I only noticed these today, but they seem quite new - has anyone seen the ForgeWorld new releases for BFG - there's an inpressive Tau Air Caste Orbital City, a security orbital station, and loads of smaller stuff - nice, except for the clash in style with Specialist Games Tau ships, mentioned elsewhere.  ???

Yeah, we talked about them in one of the FW newsletter threads.. they are pretty cool.. and iirc they are suposed to come from another Tau homweworld.. hmm.. still, I like them better than the GW versions....  :-:

these new BFG Tau pieces seem to be doing really well that they will be doing some more work on more models.  I definately like these. Didnt know they came from another homeworld though...

I didn't know GW had made any models for any of those things yet (orbital cities, security stations etc)

  ...Hmmm.. perhaps it would help if I read posts when I'm a little less tired....

-Quite right Crimson, just me being dumb, GW does not have any Tau stations yet.. just the ships of the line.

I think the Tau are an odd race. By that I mean no one seems to be that sure what their supost to be.
Are they a futuristic undead race? or maybe a sorta Dr Who Cyber Man race
"Cyber Men havin improved they bodys by replacing limbs and stuff with cybernetic parts untill in ther end the became total cyborgs"
If the Tau are undead then I think the GW models such as the Tombship suit them well. If however they are more like a race of Terminators then the new style of FW models suits them well too.
Personly I like to think of the Tau as a Terminator like race of beings.
The undead race is pretty hard to carry over to any of the 40k games. And the Chaos races "exspecialy Nurgle" and the Leigon of the Damned pretty much cover "Undead" anyway.
I look forward to seeing more such models from FW

Sounds like maybe you're getting mixed up between the Tau and the Necrons mate?

The Necrons are the Terminator look alikes with a lot of undead themes running through them. The Tau are a new race who have lept up the evolution ladder at an extreeme rate, outperforming others in terms of tech advances over a very short period (relatively speaking).

Yes, the Tau are the "little grey aliens" of UFOlogy fame.  The Necrons are the 40K version of "the Undead"/T2s ... both are neat and I like'em !  :D

Ah yes I rememebr now :p
The Tau are the kinda Elder like guys with a hint of "StarGate" mixed in :D
Damn.. so many races to remember :oo
... anyway... wat was the question again??? ?:-:
Oh yes I remember... Well I like the Tau, thier a nice blend of quiet a few sci-fi infloences. I also like the new FW Tau models. They certainly seen to be taking a more ergonomic look with each new release.
As for the Necrons, well thier cool too. My statment about the "Undead" in 40k games stands though.... we already have Nurgle and the such like and they cover "Undead" nicely.
I think a turely undead race in 40k would have to work in the same way the Borgs from Startrek work... being a single minded collective animated by a single power source.
But then again wouldnt that be very simular to the Tyranid Hive Mind?

Yes, as I said, Tau are "little Gray" - high tech aliens; Necron = T2 with Undead overtones; and 'Nids are Bugs like in Starship Troopers.  The rest are right out of traditional D&D, Sword & Sorcery, LoTR, etc., etc. ...  no lizardmen or rats ... yet ...   :;):
