An interesting, and entirely hypothetical situation... This occurred to me in a discussion.

Suppose that I have a cruiser, and I give it All Ahead Full. It then runs into a wave of enemy torpedoes (d'oh, should have seen them really). I then want to Brace For Impact.

What happens to movement? Do I still get the full AAF movement as that was declared before I braced, or is the extra move lost as I Braced before the extra was used?

This should really never actually come up in a game, but I am curious what people think anyway.

Personally, I'd think you'd lose the extra move.  I'd say it was one or the other.

I also think you would lose the move. I don't think you'd be albe to make an extra move after running into a wave of torps. I also think that alot of temporay disruptions of ships systems would occur. Although the game isn't really set up for that kind of thing.

You can't- you have already selected a special order this turn, so cant adopt BFI

Yeah, I agree that you would loose the move, but you would still get to BFI imho, as you still get the negatives in your next turn...

Thanks for your opinions. For my part, I am fairly sure that you can Brace, since it can be done at the point of attack and replaces the Special Order. I would also guess that you lose the extra move, as if the cruiser is on Lock On, that would be lost as well.

We always play that bracing replaces previous orders with any effects / advantages of the previous orders lost.

Unless, of course, I'm playing the SM player in which case, we play whatever benefits him the most!   }:)
