Well, it does mean that when I FINALLY play the game I wont have to carry around, warp storm, blue book and the 2002 annual!

Sound slike a good idea though (course RPG companies been doing similiar thing for years!)

Hmm yeah, good stuff.. I'm wondering whether it will be completly worth it tho, as I have the 2002 Annual, Bluebook, some Gothic Mags and my mate has Warp Storm... ?:L

droooool

This sounds good. Very good. 160 pages of pure BFG goodness. I'll probably get it, even though I have Warp Storm, 2002 Annual and every mag since no.2. My local store still has Warp Storm in stock as well!!!

Cheers

Is anyone else following the development of this? I must admit that I am becoming a little disillusioned by the deal. It seemed a great idea, but now it turns out that while it will 160 pages, it wont contain Blue Book ships. So, the complete fleets excetp for the core ships for four of the races. And, it wont be an Annual - does this mean no new rules. Is so, exactly how are they going to fill 160 pages?  ???

160 pages in wide book format means it can be teaming with fluff, oversized pictures, fancy layouts, themed pages you name it. The crap list is endless. It wouldn't be hard to fill up. I haven't gotten my BFG box yet. (which I finally broke down a bought, by the way) So, I don't know how the rulebook is formatted. SNAFU seems to come to mind whenever I hear about any of their new plans.  :p

I don't want to be too much of a naysayer, but I think that BFG is a broken game outside of the Imperial and Chaos fleets.

- SMs are broken and too powerful.
- Necrons are way overboard
- Orks are pitiful
- Eldar are flimsy as well
- I haven't played Tyranids yet

My last campaign was a bad experience primarily because of one player, but, nevertheless, a bad experience.

I'm happy to grant that I'm an inexperienced admiral and I tried to use a difficult fleet to use, Orks, but I'm still convinced that the sytem is broken. I'm also all to willing to concede that while broken, BFG can still be fun.

I'd like to see BFG become a more balanced game before I'm interested in playing more of it.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

The reason Imperial and Chaos aren't broken is because (no pun intended) they are the flagship fleets, the fleets the game was based on. The others are just add-ons, and some more than others are no way complete.

The SM Problem should be ok soon, because they are getting new Escorts.

I agree that many of the fleets are not as balanced as the Imperial Chaos fleets, but I would not say that they were broken. More than most games, the character of the fleets dictates how they play, and so many people have problems, just assuming that the ships are the same except for the models.

Orks are difficult to win with, but that is being sorted out with the introduction of new vessels. I dont think that Eldar or Marines are unbalanced. Necrons are unsatisfying to play but possible to beat. They suffer from bad feeling from their initial days, but now present an interesting challenge. I have not played Thyranids, but I have heard that they can be lead around the table if your opponent knows the instinctive behaviour rules well.

Rather than saying that any of the fleets are broken, I will admit that a few could use some extra vessels to balance them a little more.  :;):

Balancing out the fleets is fine when they are completely out of whack. However, you do not want to over balance. The integrity of the game could be lost. Espesially if you wind up with essentially the same fleet with different models. Each fleet should, in my oppinion, have strengths and weaknesses in varying degrees.

This whole Armada thing sounds dodgly like CS said. The main rules will still be missing so we will still need a rule book. It will only contain new stuff that has become official since the game went to print 4 years ago. hmm, sounds like a big annual to me!

The yearly annuals did this anyway, only printing the new rules from the past year, and having an appendix at the back with all the old stuff in it (in black and white).

It looks like to me this Armada will simply be a re-print of last years annual (with spelling corrected) combined with Warp storm (again) and reformatt both the books till they fill up 160 pages, claim it isn't a annual when it is and then next year reprint armada in the old format, add a few new ships and call it the 2005 BFG annual!

Will the rules for the Nids be in the Armada book?
Wow, ranting feels good.

So, in summary Bad GW
