Back from oblivion (again)?

I like Vaaish's idea about a PayPal prize donation, I'd be willing to chip in too. If Horizon or Cybershadow are happy with organizing it.

Two questions:

First, I am having problems uploading the image files, the forum doesn’t seem to want to let me do it.  Currently both images are externally hosted on Photobucket.  Could someone help give me some pointers?

Second, is it possible for me to take a new picture to replace the current one for my first entry?  I was not using my own camera for the current pic, and I feel that I could take a better picture now.

As in the rules is said direct linking isn't the best idea. I will edit your post for it!  

What you need to do is to attach a file to the post you make. Under the text box you can find the option file attachements. Here you can select a jpg directly from your directories on your pc to upload. Max size of 150kb. Now all pics I uploaded and or edited on others with the size 640x480 where below 150kb. So resize your image to 640x480 and all will be fine.

I'll let you edit your initial upload.

Thanks, I read your suggestion to upload pics, thats why I was trying to do it.  I was able to reduce the file size and uploaded them.  Thanks for being so helpful and understanding.

For your second question, you are able to edit and replace the submission at any point until the close of the competition. In fact, this is exactly why we ask that pictures are directly uploaded rather than linking, so that we can stop changes after the deadline.

The rules post says
"Each photograph should be no more than 640 x 480 pixels large, and should remain under 75Kb."

Are pictures allowed to be 150kb in size? I ask because a lot more quality can come out of a jpeg if I am able to double the filesize, I was following the 75 kb mark and thought the other 75kb was off limits   .

you are correct. It is the new forum which is responsible for higher kb size if I am correct. If you want you can edit your pics if you wish.

Unless Cybershadow corrects me on this I will allow 150k pics as the forum now allows.

Personally I don't see difference between a 75k or 150k version. Since I take my pics at high rate, then downscale to 640x480 with MS photo editor they always come below 75k.

Hi,

as you may (or may not) know Tactical Command changed of server at the beginning of july.

The new server allowed the forum to upload pictures to a maximum of 150kb instead of the previous 75kb.

With this I want to let you know that you are allowed to replace a previous uploaded picture which was below 75kb with a picture up to 150kb.

You may keep the old kb size if you don't see the need to change it.

The pixel size request still remains at 640x480 pixels.

    I also had a bit of a problem with uploading.  Re-sizing wasn't working for me.  My photo editing skill is as new as my camera.  Not knowing which camera (there are so many) you have, you may still have a menu in the camera that is pre-set for e-mail quality.  I just discovered mine yesterday.  I believe even low priced digital cameras have different resolution settings.  I hope this helps.
    Gotta love this hobby.  All the new things we have to learn!
