Some times i have got to play 3-sided battles in a lot of different games (even Epic), and i have never had a problem "adapting" the original, 2-sides rules. But then, when you get into BFG, things go the other way around. Why? because of ordnance: ordnance moves in each of the players turns, so if you play a three way battle it becomes 50% faster, thus destroying balance. Has anyone ever thought about how to solve this problem?

decrease the speed of ordinance by 1/3rd.

So ordinance that moves 30cm will move 20cm in each player's turn, moving the same total 60cm over a full game turn.

I have heard of players using cards - for example two red and one black. Mix them up and draw a card each ordnance phase. Ordnance moves with a red card only.

I think E&C's idea is pretty good.

Problem with it is that it reduces the offensive capability of attack carriers (who on occasion treat them like bullets :) ).

A better way would be only get 50% of the enemy move in each enemy turn.

Still a slight downgrade I think depending on who goes after you and if they are your target, but not as much.

Also, how often can they attack?

We have done that (well, I did when I was in the UK, at least; not that many players around here to make that a big issue anymore). Since players move their stuff in a certain order, it is determined that they can move their stuff in their own turn and that of the following player. If there is a 3rd (or 4th player) their ordnance will not move in their turn(s). It is not perfect, but it is quite OK and works well enough to be playable without introducing any rules modifications that break how we are used to play the game. And the later tends to be viewed as positive around here.

Cheers,

Xavi
