Looking through TMP boards, and this comment caught my eye.
Those aren't even the original AM ships. The same guy who sculpted the Demiurge and Rogue Trader ships did them a while back, but GW dropped all of their freelance sculptors so the ships he made for the AM fleet never got used.
He had pics of them up on Deviant Art, but GW made him take the pics down a while back. Apparently it violated their IP policy.
His ships were much cooler, the front prow of one was a Am skull and it had cranes struts for ship repairs. One of them was also a "carrier" used to drop titans on planet.

Odd, because the current models are the one from 2004 (!) display.
Check Warseer if they know about this.
I, can't really believe this story for now.
Maybe he DID create sculpts, but knowing GW they would have kept them.

I recall seeing that chap's Deviant Art page, it had one of those pre-casting Kar Duniash pattern cruisers on it (RT Cruiser, that is). I don't recall seeing any variant-pattern Ad Mech on it, but I might have looked after they were taken down.
Similarly, I can't see GW not using/keeping sculpts.
Then again, they might have been . At least the 'new' (2004 mutter grumble) Adeptus Mechanicus ships are bloody cool!
Need to order some once I've my student loan sorted!
