Hi folks,

Here is my first draft of the Diasporex for BFG. If you havent read Graham McNeill's new book Fulgrim (Horus Heresy series), you can find them in there.
I've had the nod from the man himself regarding the background, so all well and good, but feedback on the mechanics/ fleet list/ points costs would be appreciated.

Hey R.

Impressive work, once the little things are fleshed out I can use it in Warp Rift if you want. This to give attention.

One important note: models? Which models should we use. GW/SG won?t make them. Other manufacturers? Warp Rift has no restriction in showing models from other ranges. Ray showed me some cool ships, which I think would fit the Diasporex really good (Babylon V:CtA).
Or do you have something else?

Some nitpicks I picked up along the way:

Attack Rating: Give them 1, or  make them Defender always. What about scenarios? Special things for them (Exterminatus would be odd?.)

Jupiter Command vessel: to cheap, increase it to 360 points at least.
Europe Cruiser: to cheap, increase to ~215 points.
Callisto Cruiser: fine
Ganymede Cruiser: fine
Ceti Defender Cruiser: to expensive, especially since it is restricted. Make it around 200 points

Also: you should make a Special Character ship to add flavour.

I'll go down your list:

Models: As you say, B5 models would have been ideal, in fact that was my original idea. However, since the Diasporex exist in the 40k unvierse, and knowing GW can be a bit anal when it comes to using non-GW models to represent GW concepts, I had a rethink. Following what Graham McNeill says in Fulgrim, my interpretation (and his) is that the Diasporex ships (human ones) look like early versions of chaos ones, though they would be 'de-chaosified' (to represent this, I stripped all the pointy bits and chaos/ gothic ribbing off a chaos cruiser, altered the hull shape a bit, and added some drive tubes. Once its painted I'll post it up. As for escorts, GW make some pretty good rogue trader escorts which I thought would be fine. The alien cruiser is based on an old metal Necron destroyer body for 40k. The command ship will be a despoiler, heavily altered same way as the plastic cruisers.

Attack rating 1: sounds fine, I'll have think about scenarios. 'Defend the solar collectors' would be relevant, since thats what happens in Fulgrim.

Points costs: these were a stab in the dark, thanks for the help there, I'll change 'em in ver. 2

Special character: I have a mind to create a one-off ship with a special character aboard. Will get back to you on this also.

And yes, if you could put it in Warprift I'd be thrilled!

Hey,

I've been thinking about scenarios for the Diasporex, BH, reckon I'll have something in a day or two once I find an opening in my parental responsibilities  :;):
I also have a character ship in mind, all of which I'll add (including your editing suggestions) to the next version.

Got that PrimoPDF too, its quite good actually, so cheers for that Nerroth (it was you wasnt it?)

Anyway, I'll keep you posted  :D

Ok, this is version 2 of my Diasporex fleet list. I've removed the attachment from my initial post, and attach here a new improved version of the list.
This also includes scenario guidelines for the Diasporex, 2 new scenarios suited to their style of play, and rules for a character ship.
As before, BH (or anyone else for that matter), your input/ feedback is most welcome and appreciated. Hopefully I'm a bit closer to Warprift standards now! Let me know if you think it needs anything else doing to it. ?:)

Cheers Nerroth, I'm quietly pleased with the list so far, its shaping up I think :)

Is Simon Spurrier the Author of Xenology (and the creator of the Q'orl concept)?

If so, you may get some valuable insights from him regarding the Q'orl which could be useful (not that you havent made a sterling job of the fleet list anyway!).
I really only contacted Graham McNeill because its nice to be nice, and I didnt want to get the idea of the Diasporex wrong, so thought I'd ask him about them first. Turns out he was well up for it and gave me a few useful tips which helped the process no end.

Right, here's version 3 of the list. They've survived their first playtest, and I've made a few amendments according to the barrage of comments I've recieved, all of which have been very helpful I hasten to add. Cheers to all who have assisted me with this (you know who you are!) ?:D
