Dunno, it;s alwayts night in space, unless youget too close to a sun...
Touche, you got me there...
Still, their background states them being nocturnal (meaning they naturally shun bright lights, which I assume to be a lot on space vessels) and with a nomadic nature, you wouldn't really assume they'd be a common sight in space battles.

Scavengers, that's how I see these chaps. With rickety ships which are cheap and cheerful, but with the potential to do a load of damage if they get to do their bit. A bit like the old, old, old, OLD, Warpraiders.
*nods*... I agree with this. In the Inquisitor rulebook the H'rud are mentioned as having knowledge regarding warp plasma technology (not too sure on the exact wording, which I'd have to look up then), which -when put in the BFG system- would make them indeed the 40k version of a warp raider. Cheap, lots of 'em and oh so nasty when they're up, close and personal.

Oh, and welcome SLVinshqueek. I'm a rare breed, a Skaven admiral, as revealed by the above comment, from the golden days of Man O' War... the only game I was ever any good at.
Thanks for the welcome... I recently managed to get my hands on a copy of Plaguefleet and am actually quite intrigued (sp?) by the game system. On the one hand it looks hard to get started with due to the sheer amount of cards and counters involved, but after having read through the main rules, it looks (and before people start laughing: LOOKS...) easy to learn. So, in my free time I'm trying to build a couple of scratchbuild Skaven vessels. As mentioned at the UnderEmpire community: Once a Skaven, always a Skaven. *grins*...

What if the Skaven act as an NPC or a third players party?
Lets say 1500 pts battle,
suddenly Skaven, worth 250 pts of escorts emerge and try to bring down 1 or 2 ships?
As mentioned in my first post, H'rud are creatures that aren't really a common sight in space... I think a Pirate fleet (perhaps with an asteroid/ rok-like vessel serving as their HQ, a bit like the Kroot warsphere) would be the best reference to make, though using different vessels instead those of the Imperials/ Chaos.
