Hmm.... I had always assumed that the wrong gap there were the BCs, tht should add much more firepower than what they have. A cruiser is still weak when compared to a BB but maybe they should be weaker and BCs more powerful? Is this your point? It would be interesting certainly. I always assumed that the progressio in resistence and firepower was almost linear, but I can be widely wrong here, I guess.

So, BBs were the real fighters and the others were lurkers and support units, I see. I guess there will be more BBs in the table than in your average game, then, and that games should be biggwer than 100-2000 points, that is the usual size to play BFG.

I believe BBs and even BCs would be clearly out numbered by DEs, DDs, CLs, CAs, etc.  In a fleet action these lighter ships would be there to support the BBs and BCs.  Jutland was really an anomaly from the point of view of size.  I would think in an average BFG game, you have 1 or 2 BBs/BCs and 4-6 of the other ships, roughly ...  ???

Xavi, Morjean

You could rejig things slightly to make WW1 battles more like Gothic battles.

In WW1 most sides BBs had 12 ? 14inch guns, however both sides also had a few ?Super Dreadnoughts? with 15inch Guns e.g British Queen Elizabeth Class, German Bayern class by 1916/1917. Why not reclassify BFG cruisers as WW1 BBs, and have BFG battleships as WW1 Super dreadnoughts. BCs could remain the same in both. Dauntless Class light cruisers could act as WW1 cruisers.

Any good?

Or have the BFG Grand Cruisers be the WWI battleships. That way there would be a difference between BBs and BCs.

That is a pretty good idea Mojarn, I like it  :)

After the comment that cruisers were way more common than BCs and BBs (normal stuff, OTOH) I have an other question: for pitched battles, how much were they used? I suppose that cruisers and DDs were your regular convoy escorts and patrol vessels, but I am not sure if they would be your regular BATTLE assets. In that case I don't knpow if justland should be taken as a default category more than as a rarity. The fact that pitche battles were uncommon does not mean that you wouldn't use your better assets there. After all, they _are_ pitched battles and you want your best assets there :)
