Way back in the old Epic:40K mailing list days, I wrote up an expanded list of all (well most) of the SM/TL Titan weapons written up in E:40k. Mostly I just modified the range and FP. I was never really happy with it and was wondering if anyone had a better/more complete list. Also, I only did weapons that you would buy at the time so left out such oddballs as the Power Ram and Wrecker Ball.

Here's my original list. I don't have a web page anymore so it's just a google doc file. I hope people can read it.

Looks like there isn't a better list anywhere. Guess I'll have to do it myself since there seems to be only 3 people on this planet that actually still play this game.

Close Combat Weapons

These have always bugged me because of how generic they all were. I don't often use them (unless I have to because I don't have enough Titan Weapons models for all my arms) and from what I've read not many people did either after Adeptus Titanicus. Rereading the old Titan Legion rulebook is suprising beacuse many of these weapon didn't even help you win combat, they just increased the damage you did. So, here are the changes I'm considering:

1-The bonus to Assault applies to all combat, not just against other war engines. This give close combat weapons a much needed boost and will encourage otherwise decent assaulting WEs from engaging in close combat since they get the bonus anyway.

2-The bonus to Assault will not be a simple double of the WE's current Assault but a fixed amount. This will help the Reaver a bit and allow me to vary the Assault value bonus depending on the weapon.

3-Having a Close Combat arm will add one to the number of dice you roll after an assault to hit opponents. So you roll 1 die per 2 DC + 1 per weapon arm. This, along with #2 above, will give you the ability to have multiple close combat weapons.

4-The damage of Close Combat weapons will not always be auto-Catastrphic. Instead each weapon will have it's own damage such as: 1 normal hit, 1 hit with auto-critical, 1d6 normal hits, etc.

5-I also want to add new weapons like Power Swords or Axes since people seem to use Warmachine minis to represent Titans and they have a wider variety of weapons available.

As I've been looking over the 6 or so weapons that came in the original E40k, I noticed that it seems that all the special, non-firepower, weapons are valued at 6 FP each. That might be fair for a Death Ray but not so much for Heavy Barrage. Either that or the rule where Range*FP = point isn't 100% followed.

A long time ago, on the old Epic mailing list, I managed something called The Titan Project. We were coming up with titan weapons and various things. I'll try to attach the document that was current when we got sucked into Epic A playtesting, though I don't remember its state. Hope it is interesting.

Hedgehobbit: What handle you go by on the old E40K mailing list? My email was duckrvr@(some domain I can't recall). I used to play with Allen, the Q&A guy. Obviously, Andy Skinner is posting, and Primarch is around here on occasion as well (though I can't recall what he went by on the majordomo list, so it might have been something else).

andyskinner: How the heck are you, guy? I haven't heard anything out of you in ages. Glad you're still lurking about. I can't even count the number of people I shared your "travel space hulk" idea with over the years.

I'm well, thanks. I've been wanting to do some Epic, but while playtesting Epic A, realized it wasn't the game for me, though there seems to be a group of guys in the New England area playing. I'm still whacking on ideas. But gaming is taking smaller priority all the time, as other priorities keep rising.

Besides that old Space Hulk thing, I think my magnetized Titan weapons were among the first I remember seeing on the web. Wish I used the thing sometimes. :)

I do miss the old epic group. Fun discussions, occasional fun arguments, some great cooperative efforts. So greetings to you and any old epic groupers here! (I completely missed Hedgehobbit2's mention of the group as I was reading about his list.)

Last game of NetEPIC I had, my opponent had a reaver with three chain fists sitting on an objective. Another one had three Vulcan megabolters and just hoses anything that came near (might have been two and a melta cannon actually).

I was probably using Akkala back then. I was never very active on the list. At the time, I was using the Epic rules to fight WW2 battles since I had a ton of old microarmor stuff back then. By the time I had bought enough Titans off Ebay, the game had dried up and all my opponents had switched to other games.

That TitanProject.doc file is one I already had and was the basis of my original weapon list.

That old list was great. But it seems to me that back then, much more emphasis in both 40k and Epic was placed on house rules and homemade armies. Now all that energy seems to be spent on list optimization and rules loopholes. Maybe it's just me.
