nice use of washes, how was the black on the goff test vehicle done? black wash over white, grey? the black looks very black

The black on the vehicle was just Nuln oil over a white prime. It is two coats though. I let the first coat dry completely and then went back and did a second coat.

That wagon looks really good, would never have thought of trying that from a white undercoat...

Agree with Nitpick though, some contrasting colour on there will help define it better. Maybe just a little red detailing as its a Goff wagon?

Thanks for the comments everyone. I added some red to the Goff Gutrippa. I did the turret and claws in red and washed them with GW Agrax Earthshade. It looks much better in my opinion.

Did I fix it or is it still missing something?

Looks loads better with just that little addition IMO.

You can go to town with Ork wagons, detailing and painting glyphs/markings on. It's all about finding a balance between detail & something you're happy painting on MANY wagons!

I couldn't agree more. When I throw 50 of these guys on the table (once I get them painted), nobody will notice the little details.

My goal is always to have the army look good on the table. I'm not very worried about a close up of any one model.

The addition of the red was a good idea though and will make these tanks stand out on the table.

Though I agree with Jimmy, that is a very good strategy. You could always add a bit of detail later, if you feel like it.

I think the red makes it pop sufficiently and it also corresponds with the entrenched way of painting Goff equipment.

another thing you can do if you ever go back and gussy things up is to spackle gunmetal on the inside of the cutters to make it look like paint scratches from the blades. Another one of those easy to do, big effect techniques.

I do think you're approach of not getting down in the weeds too early on a formation is a good one.

I've finished everything for my January goal. Yeah for me.

Your comments have been very helpful. Thanks for the input and encouragement so far.

In February I will be painting Eldar. I'm not yet sure what my goals will be, but I will be painting them with Biel-tan colors.

Here is the army photo to date. This is only the first month so it isn't all that big, but it will be growing. I promise.

The colours and the crispness of the insignia are lovely.
