Following the fun of the 2013 ToEG (The Nurgley Appendages) I'm carrying on from where I left off. With a solid base of well over 3k of Nurgle Death Guard my plans for this year are as follows: 1. Take any existing base-painted models from the 2013 project and fully finish the paint jobs: Plague Reapers x 2 Plaguehounds x 2.1 (one just needs a few finishing details) Contagion Engines x 4 Defilers x 6 2. Rebase the older Death Guard and Beast of Nurgle stands - less because they are on square bases, more because the green doesn't match the mud of the newer models: To match these: 3. Build a 2k EpicUK AMTL list based around the Plaguehound conversions and Plaguelord conversion, possibly with a Reaver-equivalent in there to take it over 2k. 4. Bulk up the Death Guard force by increasing some of the formation add-ons and increasing the options I can field. Based on what I've been proxying or want to use but haven't tried out yet, this is likely to involve:
The first deadline is the Winter Warmer in just under two weeks. In theory I've got everything but a seventh Defiler. Roll on the Dribbly Gribblies! |

I'm definitely considering tealing your idea for the bonejacks although probably as a Plague Tower equivalent instead and glad to see this continue. |

Ta all! Here's an update, this time in the 2014 thread instead of the 2013 thread... Mockups for a couple more Defilers. Components: All made a lot easier by having proper tools... Yes, I pinned all four legs. Mostly assembled. Note that the 'head' went through a lot of different variations having originally started with the top half of a Plaguebearer, this is the turret from a 15mm GZG wheeled drone. Basing started. Based and fully assembled. The beetleback head both gave it a better rearing angle and allowed three feet to be attached to the base. Sandy Paste drying on the base, plenty of plastic putty gloop on the underside helping hide some of the gaps where the legs don't quite meet the body. With a bit of luck I'll get this one undercoated today so it can be painted in time for the Winter Warmer on Saturday... |

Ta! Inspiration for this one came from one of the painting competition entries with legs stuck on a Rhino. |

The four legged defiler has some great weight to it. Leaning back but reaching forward, great! |

Paint has been applied! Now with yucky wash on the metallics, a mix of Coat d'Arms Black, Chestnut Wash, Vallejo Smoke and a little bit of the old GW Imperial Strike Green. Since these were taken I decided to go back to it and add some edge-highlighting to the claws to make them look like a harder material and highlighted the Titan head/gave it some orange gem eyes as it was making the model look unfinished. I also applied some of the metal wash to the existing Defilers as I had some left over. |

I stuck some models under proper lighting this afternoon. In the interests of keeping things in the same thread I'm sticking them here even though these first models were finished last year... Contagion Engines. Ideally the bronze areas need a wash, the tanks at the back could do with painting to look transparent and the eyes need doing. Not sure whether to shade the Bilious Green areas. Death Guard Havocs. I'm calling these done. |

An oddly appropriate SEVEN Defilers. Close-ups of Defiler No. 7, the tank on the back still needs liquid sloshing around and I may need to pick out the gloop. Done apart from that. Note the Tzeentchian colours on the Titan head. Scale shot with a plastic Rhino. While I was at it, a scale shot for the most finished of the Plaguehound conversions. |
