Two Epic tables:
Death Guard and Beasts hold the Landing Pad objective marker, this eventually gave the Apoc Chaos forces an extra Orbital Strike.
Brokenbayonet's WIP Ferals against Jonathan's LotD. Apparently the Lords of Battle (two of them!) caused utter havoc.
A combination of War Walkers arriving through a Wraithgate and flyers strafing do very little to the six Contagion Engines. Eventually it took the two Revenants to put them out of action.
The War Walkers then dissolved under the combined firepower of two Plaguereapers - five dice for the barrages, 12 dice from the Lascannon and Heavy Bolters and two dice from the Thunderers. Plus the Defiler's shots on top of that.
My vicious plan to sweep the right flank goes horribly wrong. Ronan had two Ulthwe Guardian stands and a Falcon formation close enough that they were intermingled so I bought in the Infestation and (as usual) rolled 11 + 3 for the number of gribblies.
Wanting to get some blast markers on the lot before doing a combined assault with a DG Retinue, Infestation and summoned Daemons, I mistakenly opened up with the Armoured Company of four Predators and three LRs on the Falcons and killed four out of five - leaving the AC out of supporting fire range. Oops. Thanks partly to not spotting two Warlock stands per formation, fluffing the CC attacks and not having supporting fire, I lost the assault after roughly even odds.
The same spot a couple of turns later.
The game eventually went to Ronan at the end of turn four (two points to zero) due to some very silly activation choices on my part* but the landing pad was the only 'special' objective held rather than contested, so the game still helped my side more in the big Apoc game.
*'Oh my, one of the two objectives in my half is being held by a lone Falcon in easy range of the DG Retinue's Havocs
and the DG Retinue in a Plague Tower, should I shoot it and automatically break it? Nah, I'll shoot the Guardian Host on my base camp objective with a very low chance of breaking them and also the other Guardians on the Eldar base camp, with a better chance of breaking them but knowing that it won't alter the VPs in any way.'
Game two against brokenbayonet. As time was short we went for a simple objective-dash game, which to be honest was a lot more fun than the grand tournament mission for the first round of games.
Waaaay to many Orks, Squiggoths (small dinosaurs), Orkeosaurii (big dinosaurs) and that darn formation of three Steam Gargants with MW barrages.
One turn in, shortly before almost the entire formation of Orks got wiped out by one DG Retinue advancing up into support range including a Great Unclean One followed by a retained initiative so that the DG Retinue in the tower plus their own Lesser Daemons engaged...
I think the assault resolution roll was something like +11 v. +3. My only casualty was a Plaguebearer, the attackers didn't even suffer a blast marker.
We had to finish towards the end of turn two due to time, but it went to three objectives held by each of us while the seventh was contested - 3.5 all!
