Tale of Epic Gamers Participants commit to paint a set amount of 'small scale mass combat miniatures' (e.g. Epic, dystopian wars) each month and show their progress in a project log in the Tale of Epic Gamers forum section. The purpose of TOEG is to encourage people to finish a playable army. This year the scope is being widened outside of just 6mm scifi ‘epic’. Historical and fantasy are now welcome, but keep to mass combat scale figures (under 15mm). 'Rules'/Guidelines: The standard formula for the last few years has been 500pts/months of Epic Armageddon (using any lists) with other game system recommended to aim for whatever seems comparable in their relevant systems. As more figure genres/game systems are now included in TOEG here are some additional suggestions for setting goals: • Aim to paint a number of models per month, e.g 15 inf stands and count tanks double. • Use a different points target relevant to your chosen game system. • Divide the army into monthly blocks from the start in terms of miniature count. • Divide the points total of your planned army in your system by the number of months you expect the project to run (up to 12). As long as there is some sense of order/goal that’s fine. TOEG is not intended for kitchen sink projects, but at the same time everyone has different goals and rates of progress. ——— Q&A When, where and how does it start? Starts in this sub-board from January/February 2013. Just make a new TOEG topic and get painting – I’ll add a link to your log in this thread to help index the participants. If you want to start early/now go for it, due to starting over the holiday season people will have different restrictions on their time. My TOEG12 log is still running, wat do? Congrats on keeping going so well! This is up to you, if the project will be coming to a close in a few months I would suggest keeping it as a ’12 log. If you still have a lot of work to do on that project and see it continuing on well into ’13 then update the thread title to TOEG13, TOEG12/13 or similar. TOEG13 has already started, can I still join? Yes. It’s nice to have a group start to get some momentum going but that does not exclude anyone joining in later on. Make a thread and get painting, if you’re late to start and want to be on the sticky list post in this thread as I wont check to add new logs as frequently after the start. Is it a competition? No. It is a form of group motivation going towards painting an army. You can be as competitive as you like of course, but TOEG is not run as a formal Taccom competition event. This also means you can enter any TOEG painted minis in other Taccom competitions, such as epicomp. ——— Please include 'TOEG13' in your thread names. This makes it easy to tell at a glance which year a log is from. So, what are peoples' ideas? armies? plans? |

Thread already posted - I'm doing Nids this year, Hive Fleet Scorpio. Currently aiming for minimum 500pts per month, and geeky me has the whole thing planned and broken down already... Models almost all built, mass spraying session to follow. Edit: unless we're time travelling, I'm pretty sure that's last year on the participants list... ![]() |

gonna actually do my imperial fists this time round..... as well as some other armies, I'm approaching useable size with most of my armies now so it's time to get them painted, the (impossible) dream would be to win the EUK championship on bonus points alone ![]() |

I should be taking part this year. I'll wait till I have a formation painted before starting a thread though. |

Apocolocyntosis wrote: Join us CS ![]() Does repainting my living room and reflooring the bathrooms count? ![]() Its ironic that I would actually love to get involved with this right now, but I am still trying to move house, and having part finished miniatures and more painted ones which are difficult to store and transport, is untenable. I think that the recent activity of selling stuff I dont need and sorting through my stuff has actually focussed me more on wargaming than the last, and more than less productive hobbies. |

Dunno, is it a mass combat scale relfooring? Fair enough, there's always TOEG14 ![]() |

I would love to be involved but alas I am far too busy making the models to actually be able to paint them all tooo. Shame really... Though I will be concentrating on my Junker civvies and Junker Soliders when they are available.. |

I think you could include sculpting a line as 'finishing an army' ... |
