Post subject:  TOEG13 Vanvlak's Eldar Gunjumpers NEW PIC 20th JANUARY

I've tried everything to get projects done for TOEG, this time I'll try blatant cheating (e.g. starting several weeks before time) (I need a pirate Eldar smiley now).

Eldar Gunjumpers Progress report 1 - Eldar dug out of cellar, several unfinished and never started Wraithguard and some walkers chosen for first units. Paint scheme selected (more or less) and basing scheme planned and under test.

To save people seeing this thread some trouble, I'll say this to myself for you:

Weeks? it's still mid-november! :D At this rate you have time to start, get distracted and stall on TOEG13 before TOEG13 even starts.

I guess pre-emptive abandonment would be a kind of forward planning … sort of … eh :eh
(not that you'll stall this time round of course, we all have complete faith in you)

I have started a new style (new for me at least) of games table for the Eldar force. This is the sort of thing which derails me badly, this time before I finished a single model.
By the way, in TOEG2012 I finished at least 9 models - not bad, by my standards. To understand one of the reasons why I am never done: 4 out of 7 are scratchbuilt. Sigh.
And I just realised I never even took pics of these. :{[]

December woes: my jumping-the gun is having almost no effect other than having dug up more Eldar (which is a form of progress, I guess...).
What's on? Well, Epicomp and the Lead Adventure Forum (LAF) build something competition. I'm a sucker for competitions involving modelling stuff. In Epicomp I'm restricting myself to a max of two entries. I SHOULD do Eldar, to promote the TOEG work, but cannot resist converting stuff, and I am not very good at converting Eldar....As for the LAF competition, that's scenery, and is at least in line with my plans for a game board which goes with the Eldar.
Anyone wanting to take a peek at LAF: http://www.lead-adventure.de/

Great idea V, starting now for 2013, genius :)

If you try for 1-2 painted figs a month, you could reach double figures by 2014 :P

I can't talk though, my TOEG2012 attempt is in simple green.

Take it easy mate, have a good xmas.

Thanks, Ortron - you too.
I jumped the gun, and have STARTED 11 models and completed - ah - one... a 28mm Warhammer Dryad which has very little to do with 6mm Eldar... :{[]
Looks like your prediction for double figures in 2014 is overoptimistic....

It's almost 2013.
I might have something done before the end of the year - and I mean 2012!
Fingers crossed....
If I don't lose patience with photography, I'll actually have 3 models and one bit of scenery for the project.

As usual, just to save you the trouble:

And at last, some results.
Only problem is - they're not quite Eldar!!!

Nice water effect, but what's causing all that turbidity to start with? :D
Good weathering.

Thanks Apoc - as madd0ct0r pointed out, it's a Martian Fighting Machine/Warhound titan/Slasha gargant which fell in the water upstream :spin

Probably not, seeing I don't know what spackle is...!
It's Vallejo texturing paste; and the base tiles are ceramic floor tiles.

Woohoo! Well done Vanlak for painting something! :) Doing better than me with nothing yet...

I admit it isn't exactly Eldar but the scenery looks good and is tangible progress. You could use the dam as a blitz objective for the Eldar army? Preventing access to the enemies water and/or hydro-electricity supply could be important tactically to their campaign.
