Hello everyone,

I am fairly new to these forums but some of you may have seen my Saim Hann Eldar on my blog (see signature). As my Eldar are pretty much finished bar the odd unit or two which I will add from time to time, I decided to start an Ork army. The reason for choosing orks is that they are more or less the opposite of Eldar both in terms of painting and modelling and in how they play on the tabletop. Hopefully the Tale of Epic Gamers will help me to stay motivated throughout this project.

Here's what I've painted so far:

Feel free to chip in with comments or suggestions. I'd love to hear what you all think about my models.

All the best,
Andy.

Hey TLH,

Really nice looking greenskins; the infantry in particular are fantastic.

What's next on the workbench??

Cheers

Awesome orks the detail and texturing is very impressive! love the basing with the different types of grass as well - great inspiration for one who has always struggled with making bases look good...

Thanks, guys. I'm really glad you like them. These were fun models to paint and I'm looking forward to painting more. The different ork clans should keep things from getting boring.

I have a few formations based and ready for painting. At the moment I am painting a small Kult of Speed. I also have quite a few vehicles to paint as well. One model I am particularly looking forward to is the old Mekboy Gargant (which I will use as a super stompa). This is such a characterful sculpt by Kev Adams who created some of the best ork models GW have ever done.

Thanks. I think that bases are an often over-looked but very important part of a model. This is especially true of Epic where the base size is quite large compared to the actual models. When it comes to realistic bases I think variety is the key. In nature there is such a diversity of colours and textures and so I used a couple of different types of flock and some clump foliage to reflect this. The ruins also break up the bases a bit and add a bit of interest.
