Hey folks

As its still September and I've managed to get enough models together for a new army I've decided to join in the fun!

Followers of my other thread will have seen these but I'm putting them up for completion's sake.

I've since corrected the bare metal on the lord's stand.

Onto new stuff:

An Obelisk

A Monolith

Tomb Spider

These are all prototypes for a red vehicle scheme to fit with the infantry, what do you guys think?

Group shot

Also assembled some spare gubbinz into a Tomb Complex

I hope folks like them! Thanks to all the Necron painters who post here for the inspiration and of course to the furry model maker for his hard work.

The red works out real well, and is a nice contrast to the green guns.

Thanks SG glad someone else likes them. I was a little concerned the red/green/gold combination might make them look a little too festive!

cool, so the obelisk is back to it's intended look now? Oman did you metal the whole thing?

I think the tomb complex is kinda nifty. Did you think about trimming the top to be a bit flatter?

Sadly I think I got the last of the full obelisks, Oman said he'd need to remake the mold to make more. After seeing yours I had to ask, definitley prefer the full version.

I agree that a flat top might be more suited to the Necron theme but the current steeple is resin so I'd need to be very careful with a saw, which I lack atm, with no easy replacement if I mess up. The grooves on the flats will be lit-up in a similar style to the corners of the monolith.

Do you like the colour scheme Vaaish? Any pointers?

I think both the red and the gold came up dark enough to avoid looking too bright. I also like a colour scheme that is not the "official". Good basing on the scarab, too.

Cheers,
Fredmans

The reds sorta pop the green but I think you need to have more definition on the outer edges of the model to help break it from your table and show the detail. you can do that with a bit brighter of a highlight on the outside edges of the model.

I might think about playing up the redish a bit with a wash of dark flesh followed by either lining the panel recesses with black or dousing it with another wash of black. Another bit to think about would be to make the vanes in a silver metal to add some contrast to the reds in the gold and highlights and break up the solid color.

Yeah, I've cranked up another resin mold for obelisk corners.

Thanks Fredmans, I've based all my spiders in a similar manner, it was the easiest way to make them look like they were hovering without some painstaking attempt to use pins, glad you like the scheme too.

Thanks Vaaish, will need to pick up some dark flesh to try, how do I make blood red a stage brighter? Add some orange maybe? Also excuse my ignorance, which bits are the vanes?

Oman: Woo!

There are two ways, one is to add white to the mix which gives you something like the Blood ravens I've been working on. The second is to add orange or do straight orange. For even brighter highlights you can mix more yellow into the orange but you need to be careful that it doesn't turn too yellow.

The vanes are the set of three flying buttress like pieces you have between the corner pieces on the obelisk.

Somewhat appropriately this thread shall rise after a long slumber...

Been working with these on & off whilst working on my other minis, but seeing as the army is now almost complete with only 5 miniatures left to do I thought I should perhaps share my progress...

I did try the vanes in a different colour but I'm not terribly keen on it.

I think the black is more forgiving with the odd mold line and snapped vane.

Still also need to try taking the highlighting up a stage brighter. As is however Is be happy putting these on a table to play.

C&C desired...

I like the look. It has some nice colours and nice contrast but also looks older and slightly corroded to give it a good feel of something that has been underground or unused. Looks very nice.

Are the infantry from the same source?

All the infantry is from the good folks at exodus wars. The spiders and vehicles are from the otterforge.

Glad you like them! :)

This army looks fantastic, i love the muted red different but stunning. I'm diggin that color of static grass i saw it used on someone elses minis aswell. It contrasts nicely with the darkness of the mini's well done sir.

Thanks Blind! If you're interested the static grass I'm using is Granny Wendy's dead grass.
