So with a pile of ranodom guard figures wihtout a home reckon this is the perfect chance to sort them out.... Also always wanted to give my guard army a unique flavour so after trawling the web came up with a plan...

This force will be a mixed elite strike force of desert raiders - brought together from the remenats of numerous tallarn divisions from the 8th army corps of the raiders. Recently assigned to face numerous chaos incursions supporting the cadians in desert worlds near the eye of terror where their desert skills gave the edge over the sun baked denizens of chaos.

61st Glowing Shields - Heavy infantry company
Support - Giffon platoon
support - Bombard platoon
support - rapier platoon
support - tactical platoon

348th Desert Wolves - Leman Russ Company
support - Sabre tnak hunter platoon

9th Jade Mukaali - rough rider company
support - Ogryn platoon

Special - Capitol imperlialis

With close support from dark angels and legio ignatum this force will be the flexible base for future operations.

pictures coming soon of rough rider detachment marshalling.

And to get the debate going this is what I am thinking as Mukaali's rough riders...

So have put the order in for the rough riders... 30 stands though - what a daunting prospect.... need to keep the focus but have lots of ideas and will post pics regularly:)

Faster than a speeding bullet I recieved Mukaali today! (well EW bounty hunters really) With 30 stands to do and the distractions of work and a 1 year old think I might get started early.... and not sure i can wait now that the first lot have turned up:) Quickly calculated that with 24 in a pack I need 1 more pack though - so many rough riders to paint!

anyone got any good suggestions for painting the Mukaali - was going to do a bone coloured undersides with a variety of blues for the tops of them to contrast the desert browns of the riders. A little like the forge world examples to be fair. This would also fit with the unit being the Jade Mukaali's.

Remember Muukali have no tails. I'd suggest removing them to get the look right.

I think they would work ... I painted some of mine as Eldar Exodites ... Image

Indeed you are right... no tails... how did I miss that?? Musta been distracted by the 11 month old daughter demanding constant attention!

So now I need to decide on tails or no tails.... or stubby tails even...
nice exodites btw legion:)

Really looking forward to this blog as Tallarn are my favorite type of guard. Those Muukaali should make for a distinctly different rough rider force.

Do you only play Netepic or will this army also be used for Epic Armageddon?

So having been round the houses on the tails i ended up after a trip to the pub making a call... I kinda went half to keep the look and balance of the steeds so some tail. Although short tails so that it is more in line with the FW Mukaali.

The plan at the moment is to build all the stands first then model the bases before spraying and painting. thought you might want to see some updates so far of the first batch for 3rd platoon.

I do currently only play netepic and time constraints mean its hard to look at EA... that not say that I wont play though!
