I love your cthulhu-esque Ketzali ! they look very good indeed.

I was planning to use these minis to make tech-priests out of them (and possibly sanctioned psykers and astropaths as well), but I see they have much more potential :)

Very cool conversions for the inf and great cross-range-kit-bashing for the tanks. I look forward to seeing more!

well, apparently the paints i've been waiting on (for 3+ months) where finally shipped today (not impressed :/)
as such, it seems unlikely that any paint will get done till next month starts. i'm also still waiting on the second half of my tank and infantry bits order to show up. seems i'm going to be running a bit behind. hopefully if the tanks and paints show up soon enough i'll have caught up by the end of next month though (thanks largely to the 500pt harbinger XD)

in the meantime, i'm still tossing up between colour sets on my thaumaturge scheme. what do people think? brown or grey robes? green or palid skin/tentacles?

BFTBG y'all

Sorry to hear that Jag!

As for the thaumaturges, what about dirty ivory robes with a purplish flesh tone? It'd fit in tonally with the red/grey/black of the Crimson Bondsmen, and still stand out.

paints have arrived! khorne shall be disappointed (because now i wont need to fly across the country and beat some people to death with a haddock!) but perhaps some painted miniatures will distract him long enough for me to go play whack-a-mole or something (geeze i miss dealing with slaanesh, things where much simpler with her)

still waiting on the tank turrets, but they should be here any day, and atleast now i can make a serious go at test-painting in the meantime. as such, anticipate some progress.
woulda got some done today except for a lot of running back and forth trying to get an X ray done (3 trips in at this point, still nothing, but i should be getting it sorted tomorrow or the next day >.>)

i also got the Dindrenzi escorts, and while awesome, they're too small to be bombers (though i could see them as fighters...)
i'm thinking they'll be the Space Fleet for the faction (paint scheme currently looking to be very dark grey to black, with red accents) and at this rate they might get painted before the actual bondsmen do...

MG: i think i'm gonna avoid purple in this sceme (and green for that matter, thats mostly an option because of the cthulhu imagery the priests have) but the ivory robes are a possibility (my planned chaos marine scheme is white with blood splatter)

overall the plan is to have my chaos factions all represented on a black-grey-ivory-white scale, with reds aswell. i also have plans for a 4 tier narrative campaign if i can coerce a worthy opponent...

but for now, paints are here!

WWBFTBGD?

well, my tank turrets have yet to arrive any day yet...
in the meantime i have done a few other things
firstly, i have slightly modified some Exodus Wars Zombies (mainly bending arms, and trimming sleeves on the women) to make some Militia/Cultists/Zombies (while not present in the bondsmen list, they are present to one degree or the other in the Lost and the Damned list, and more importantly, my own Bloody Hand list)

secondly, and more interestingly, i have made some heavy flamer armed troops, for my Death Brigades (also found only in my Bloody Hand list) following Apocolocyntosis's conversions (although i shortened my barrels a bit, and added a blast shield to the side. which i think is a minor but telling improvement)

so far, 9 have been made. i am currently deciding if i should put two to a stand (currently i am thinking yes, so i dont have to use the jungle trooper sarge model, which i am not fond of)
they're fairly fiddly to make, but they look pretty great so i dont mind overmuch.

in other news, still no painting has been done. i've been rather busy and otherwise distracted lately. earlier today i had a wisdom tooth extracted, so hopefully people will leave me alone for the next few days and i might get some done.

anyway, quite enough BFTBG for me today i think, i think i shall go lay down for a while

What miniatures are the basis of your heavy flambe troops?

cheers guys

those are the machinegun wielding troopers from the DRM Jungle Troops pack. the plan is to use those (and the other two trooper models) to make my more elite troopers. still trying to decide if i want to use DRM light infantry, or EW legionnaires, as my basic troopers.

you could also use the DRM medium support troopers, who would probably look better in a normal army (as they're wearing more armour and have a helmet covering their mohawk) and as an added bonus, already have a cord running to a fuel/power pack on their backs (though you'd need to embiggen the backpack)
i was considering a fuel line, but passed up on it due to the fiddly size it would be. i may revisit it when making my next batch

the process for making them (i will repeat apoc's instructions here, in greater detail, if only so that i know where i put them) is as follows.

cut 1mm (or is it 1/2mm) plasticard into small rectangle, bend gently over thin plasticard rod (second smallest from the GF9 mixed pack which is where i got mine, not sure the proper measurement, looks to be about 2mm) glue in place, holding steady via these cool reverse tweaser thingies (ie; squeeze to release) that i pinched off my mum (you would obviously need to find your own, as my mum has run out of them XD) when dry, clip off the plasticard rod, and trim the front corner off the bottom of the hood.
bend the thinnest plasticard rod, trim, glue underneath first rod (if needed, reclamp hood down around it)
trim the front of the machinegun from the DRM jungle trooper, as well as the small strut extending forwards from the tube on the left hand side of the gun casing (about 2mm past the hand)
glue two more 2mm rods together to form the fuel tank, trim to size.
glue flamer nozzle to front of gun, fuel tank to back of trooper
cut smaller rectangle, trim edges to slightly curve, glue into valley you previously made in gun casing

at that point you're done. (having teeth pulled is not part of the process, so dont do that unless you where otherwise going to)
repeat 8-19 more times till you get fed up XD

thank you for the kind words

today i made up the other 11 heavy flambes, as well as sprueing up the rest of the death brigade troopers and a few sets of snipers for undercoating.

then, in what i can only assume is a continuing effort to avoid actually painting anything, i started experimenting on the death brigade sergeant model. as i mentioned earlier, i am using the DRM jungle shock trooper models, and i am not keen on the sarge (or atleast who i take to be the sarge) model, most specifically, the sword in his left hand. the pose is quite odd for a bladed weapon, in that it seems he's resting it's hilt in the crook of his arm somehow. the end result is not satisfying, so i decided to try putting a gun there instead.

my initial experiment was with the gun from an EW support sergeant (again, i assume, its from a figure i got in the support squad pack) which looked much better
then i tried with a normal EW mook, which also looked much better, although it ends up looking rather like an m16 without a clip, i toyed with making one out of plasticard, but instead decided a different tack

excuse the poor pictures, tiny little shiney metal figures with white plastic do not photograph well on my little camera late at night. hopefully you can sort of see what i've done here. it's a double barrel shotgun (two 1mm plasticard rods, a small plasticard handgrip, bulked out and textured via greenstuff. there's also a tiny ironsight that i added.)

i suspect i may be mad.

anyways, it looks pretty good, trying to decide which method i will use to make another 9 of them, but either way, i wont get them undercoated tomorrow morning (and they are forcasting rain in the afternoon)

IID, BFTBG.

well, my tank turrets arrived yesterday, so i set to work
i've now got the tanks made up (with a conversion thrown in) and a basecoat down on all my normal armour (not the SHTs yet)
Image

and here's what stage2 looks like Image
(currently i'm holding off on that on the main force, because i may want to add the detailing in before i go the wash. waiting on some more paints (these one sourced more locally, might be getting them tomorrow or early next week, either way is much the same, as little work will be done over the weekend, due to me being at a 40k tournament all day, and a film festival all night)

so thats a start hey, actual paint on models?
hell, if i paint up the SHTs aswell i'll actually come out roughly on time after all! (ps: thats pretty much not going to happen)

BFTBG and all that
