Ïa! ïa! All hail the God-Machines!

Here's some WIP shots of Barathrum Negilians, Mars-Alpha pattern Reaver.
Image

The Machine is pictured here outfitted with a close-in support weapons suite: an Inferno Gun for flushing soft targets from cover and a Chain-wrecker for dealing with hard targets. An Apocalypse Launcher completes the weapons outfit, providing Barathrum with a flexible engagement load-out.

Barathrum is a great example of weapons outfit being led by temperament. Like all Battle Titans, it is readily able to swap its weapons suite, but its aggressive temperament, coupled with a dynasty of battle-hungry Moderati, has meant that its weapons suite has been virtually fixed to help it in urban engagements, where it has excelled.

The front-loaded muzzle of the cockpit houses a complex suite of sensory equipment, and in common with all Validus engines, it is controlled by means of a mnemo-harmonic organ.

I've left the first Reaver of my Titan Legion fairly unmarked at the mo – though since he's a good few thousand years old, not clean! – as I'm intending to record their victories and defeats as I go.

Cool, I really it!

Do I understand from the fluff on Barathrum that all your other Titans will be fixed-weapon configurations too?

That's a really lovely scheme!

Really good Job. Have you considered using micro-magnets to provide the ability to swap weapons?

Also out of interest, how were you intending to mark up the victories?

Very nice.

How important is it to magnetise titan weapons in Epic? Aside from the War Griffons list, aren't they all just a default load-out anyhow?

I really like the look of the old reaver.

Very nice work.

Thanks very much, all :)

The short answer is that I haven't decided yet. Generally, I prefer to just make a model that I really like the look of, and then see how it performs in-game – that way I find the models create their own 'personality' (or perhaps they're just a bit easier to remember!), and I learn how to use more unusual setups.

If I go with that approach, they'll all be fixed-weapon configurations in terms of modelling; though in background terms, that'll probably not be the case.

I really like the idea of Titans as walking Reliquaries, and want to get a slightly Russian Orthodox feel to them. I'm planning on adding kill banners or markings to the weapons for notable kills (probably some fairly simple freehand), and adding areas of freehand to the carapace for victories (green and white look like they'll contrast nicely).

Next up will be another couple of Reavers – Martialis Vor and Mercato Stipent.

I am magnetizing weapons on some of my multi weapon miniautres and will be on all my mix weapon titans. Best thing is to look at the army lists and will give you an idea of what needs magnetizing. Ebay is a good place to get Neodynium magnets these are ultra strong and do the job! :)
